Job Description

Heinzer for Congress, in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, is looking for a Campaign manager who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of the campaign.  We know there are candidates who may not have all of the qualifications listed below, but may have sufficient professional and/or government experience to succeed in political work even if they have not previously served on a campaign. Compensation: Monthly salary range is $5000 - $6000 commensurate with experience.
This is a limited duration position.
Qualifications:
·        Knowledge of the political dynamics of Virginia’s 7th Congressional District;
·        Experience with political campaigns, in a paid or volunteer capacity, preferred;
·        Skilled at working effectively and tactfully with the public;
·        Possesses the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment;
·        Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
·        Able to manage time effectively; and
·        Excellent oral and written communication.
·        Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms and processes for updating content.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
·        Campaign Plan:
o  Work with the Candidate and the Campaign Committee to execute the campaign strategy.
o  Perform daily monitoring and provide weekly status updates of the execution of the campaign strategy relative to accomplishment of tasks, activities, trouble/success areas, and achievement of major milestones.
o  Provide recommendation for modifications or adjustments to campaign strategy as necessary.
o  Support the distillation of the campaign strategy into actionable and achievable tasks and activities.
·        Candidate Support:
o  Manage the candidate’s time by scheduling times for canvassing, fundraising calls, lobby calls and endorsement interviews.
o  Help the candidate to stay on schedule and on task.  
o  Always make sure the candidate is prepared and has the information needed.
o  Ensure accuracy and timely updates of the campaign event calendar.
o  Coordinate and ensure attendance of, at a minimum 1-2, campaign volunteers at on-site campaign events to provide support to candidate.
o  Oversee the scheduling, planning, and implementation of community engagement events, (e.g., town halls, meet & greets, living room sessions) throughout CD7 in accordance with campaign strategy.
o  Provide oversight of the activities of the campaign committee, periodic meetings, and capture and tracking of action items.
·        Fundraising: Manage the fundraising plan based on candidate phone calls, and small fundraising events. Staff the candidate during fundraising calls and at events.
·        Volunteer Recruitment and Management: Recruit, train, encourage, support, and manage campaign volunteers. Secure commitments throughout the cycle and assign relevant tasks.
·        Field Plan Execution: Work with the candidate and Campaign Committee to draft and implement the field plan voter contact goals through door to door canvassing, crowd canvassing, and when appropriate, literature drops.
·        Media Communications:
o  Serve as the campaign’s point of contact for all media. 
o  Maintain candidates’ social media platforms, blog, and website.
o  Seek out media opportunities and prepare the candidate for press engagement.
o  Draft press releases when appropriate.
o  Develop a social media marketing campaign plan that enable boosting of community engagement and build a positive brand image. 
o  Plan, support, and manage the creation, review, and posting of online content, connecting with community, and analyzing the success and performance of the social media marketing campaign.
·        Advertising: Coordinate electronic, mail, and text advertising efforts with vendors to maximize voter outreach.
·        Contribution and Expenditure Tracking: Work with the campaign Treasurer to establish and maintain accurate records of bank account, contributions and expenditures, and assist the Treasurer with contribution and expenditure report filings when needed.
