**Organization Summary**
Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL) is a worker-led organization where workers organize, educate, and empower each other to fight for a voice in their workplaces and in their communities. We partner with other organizations and leaders to build a movement to win racial, gender, and economic justice. We identify the root causes of injustice and work to shift the balance of power between those who have it and those who don’t to improve the lives of our communities for present and future generations.

**Position Summary**
The Communications and Narrative Campaigner is a key member of the CTUL team, supporting the entire organization and its campaigns through narrative building, storytelling, and press-related work. This position works with CTUL’s base and staff to broadcast CTUL’s organizational and campaign narratives through press. The Communications and Narrative Campaigner also collaborates with communications staff at CTUL’s partner organizations to build narrative strategy and lead media relations in a way that advances racial, gender and economic justice in the Twin Cities. 

**Salary & Benefits**
CTUL has a tiered salary range set by the Staff and Board based on the principles of economic justice and inclusion. This is a salaried position currently compensated at $56,843.66 per year with annual raises as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This full-time position will normally work 40 hours per week, including some work on evenings and weekends. Benefits include: 3 weeks paid vacation, unlimited sick days, 5 recuperation days, 19 paid holidays, 90% employer-paid medical and dental insurance for you and your immediate family, 100% employer-paid vision, life and disability insurance, and an annual end of year bonus of 5% of your annual salary which can be used towards a retirement fund.

**Responsibilities**_ (Essential duties & responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following)_

**Narrative building**
- Update and maintain the CTUL’s overall organizational narrative
- Help develop and maintain winning narratives for each of our campaigns
- Keep up with dominant narratives that impact our work, and develop strategies to shift those narratives with our own
- Develop narrative for key strategic moments, such as campaign escalations or cases that come to public light that highlight systemic problems related to our campaigns
- Work in coalition with allied organizations to align narrative strategies for maximum impact
- Create compelling content to disseminate CTUL’s narrative, including e-mails, social media posts, one-pagers, briefs, etc

**Earned media coordination **
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national reporters 
- Write press advisories, press releases, op-eds and coordinate press events
- Pitch and negotiate exclusives and story ideas 
- Lead press outreach, engagement, and roundup for CTUL actions/events 
- Train and prepare worker members to speak publicly and to do interviews with the press
- Identify strategic opportunities to bring worker voice and worker stories to the forefront in local and national news, while developing members’ skills in storytelling
- Keep up with local and national news trends.

**Qualifications**
- **Being bilingual (Spanish/English) is required. **
- Experience developing and amplifying a mission-driven narrative
- At least two years of experience with earned media and press relations, including writing press releases and coordinating press events
- Previous experience in storytelling
- Excellent writing skills and a high level of computer literacy
- Knowledge and basic proficiency of digital media platforms including web email tools, Facebook Business suite, twitter, instagram, and social media managers
- Experience with supporting working class communities of color in telling their stories publicly in a powerful way as leaders for social change
- Proven relational skills to build rapport with workers, organizers, reporters, and allies
- Highly organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Willingness to support in campaign actions and organization events, and to be involved in fundraising and the sustainability of the organization 
- Flexibility to attend events outside normal business hours that from time to time may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends
