Job Description

**Scope:**
The Director of Development is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of IfNotNow's overall fundraising strategy. The Director of Development is a key member of the Operations Team, which is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial and operational sustainability. This position is supervised by the Co-Executive Director of Finance/Operations.

**Responsibilities:**
_Fundraising Strategy & Leadership_
- Design, implement, and oversee the plan for meeting the organizational budget goals in FY2024 with a budget over $2M, in alignment with our organizational and movement strategy
- Provide leadership on all fundraising activities, including growing a culture of fundraising across the organization, including both staff and volunteers
- Assess and evaluate current funding needs, gaps, and opportunities; identify areas to increase support from individual major donors, foundations, and grassroots supporters
- Identify and pursue opportunities to tap into new networks and organize donors and resources towards IfNotNow’s work
- Work to integrate fundraising strategy into IfNotNow’s overall campaign and organizing strategy
- Identify and pursue opportunities for solidarity fundraising with partnered and aligned groups in Israel-Palestine.
- Develop metrics and tracking mechanisms and work with the Director of Finance & Operations to ensure fundraising plans are on track and aligned with movement and organizational strategy; proactively identify risks to expected revenue and develop mitigation strategies.
- Make sure fundraising projections are integrated into organizational and strategic planning
- Lead all rapid response and crisis fundraising efforts, with an eye towards the conversion of rapid response donors to ongoing supporters
- In conjunction with Director of Communications, ensure integration of fundraising and organizing strategies across all external communications
- Hold a portfolio of between 20-30 major donors and 10-15 program officers.

_Management_
- Oversee Fundraising Manager, and work closely with the Data Director and Digital Director to ensure integration between our digital organizing and fundraising strategies, and implement grassroots and distributed fundraising campaigns 
- Oversee key major gifts functions and bodies of work including, but not limited to, high level portfolio management, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, and stewardship process; supervise Fundraising Manager to provide coordination and support to staff and volunteer stewards
- Lead prospecting of new donors and funders and proactively identify new sources of revenue
- Work with the Fundraising Manager to implement structures for volunteers to be part of fundraising efforts and understand fundraising as intrinsically connected to organizing
- Manage board fundraising committee and ensure board participation in fundraising activities, in collaboration with the board fundraising committee chair
- Manage donor and grant research and bottomline the preparation of grants 
- Work with Comms Department and Fundraising Manager to design and execute all donor collateral 
- Facilitate regular donor touchpoints, such as briefings, salons, and newsletters, to keep supporters apprised of IfNotNow’s strategy and the impact of their gifts.
- Manage donor communications pipeline to ensure donors are contacted and followed up with in a timely and productive manner.

_Direct Stewardship_

**Essential Qualifications**
- 3+ years experience in developing and executing major donor fundraising strategy
- 2+ years experience in grassroots and/or online fundraising 
- Excellent management and leadership skills; direct staff supervisory experience (not interns or volunteers)
- Strong communicator and writer
- An understanding of IfNotNow and our role in the larger movement ecosystem, and a sense of personal stake in the issue

**Additional Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience leading fundraising for an organization over $1 million and/or stewarding gifts of $50,000+
- Experience with CRM and wealth prospecting software (ideally EveryAction and iWave)
- Orientation towards moving money and building power in service of IfNotNow’s mission, and to building a culture of fundraising in our movements
- Experience working in organizations at times of rapid growth and an ability to channel growth towards long term financial sustainability
- Relational, strong communicator, able to work in a fast-paced and highly-collaborative environment
- Understands the interplay between the strategy, structure, and culture of an organization
- Has awareness around dynamics around power and privilege and can work well with people from different identities
