Job Description

**Organization Overview:**
IfNotNow is building a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, cross-class movement of American Jews that can organize our community to end US support for Israel’s apartheid system and call for equality, justice, and a thriving future for all Palestinians and Israelis. We are fighting for a vision of collective liberation: where Jewish safety does not come at the expense of others, but is intertwined with the liberation of all people. 

**Scope:**
The Finance & Operations Director is responsible for keeping the IfNotNow’s administrative systems and organizational infrastructure running smoothly and efficiently. This includes management of IfNotNow’s family of entities: IfNotNow Education Fund (501c3), IfNotNow Movement (501c4) and End the Occupation PAC. The Finance & Operations Director is a key member of the Operations Team, which is responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial and operational vision in alignment with the organization’s mission and values, and is supervised by the Co-Executive Director. 

**Responsibilities:**
_Accounting & Financial Management/Analysis_
- Maintain general ledgers for IfNotNow’s family of organizational entities with consultation and regular communication with CPA firm/auditors and Board treasurers; responsible for reconciliation and maintenance of accounting systems, including intercompany reimbursements.
- Generate timely monthly financial statements, including Statement of Activities, Cashflow, and Budget vs. Actual reports
- Coordinate with Co-ED to prepare budgets, financial forecasts and cash flow reports for the Board and the organization’s executive Leadership Team.
- Conduct financial forecasting and manage the budgetary planning system parallel to financial systems to ensure spending in accordance with approved budgets and funding guidelines.
- Manage all accounts payable and receivable, assist with multi-year grant management and reportings
- Manage annual audit and tax preparation processes with accountants.
- Work with board treasurers and Co-ED to bottomline regular finance/fundraising committee calls.

_Operations_** **_& Compliance_
- Work with accountants and lawyers to ensure compliance of all activities (including electoral) with applicable laws and regulations; work with Co-ED to train staff in relevant areas of compliance and proactively identify risk areas and mitigation strategies.
- Work with vendors to manage all organizational insurance policies, including employee benefits, as well as general liability and property loss insurance, workers compensation, etc.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendors and contractors, maintain documentation, and coordinate legal affairs with lawyers related to contracts and vendor relationships as needed.
- Develop policies and systems to ensure all staff members and volunteer leaders have access to the materials and financial resources they need to do their work; proactively develop, manage, and troubleshoot these systems. 

_Human Resources_
- Manage payroll administration, time tracking, and personnel benefit offerings for all employees, and oversee all personnel policies; proactively identify, propose, and implement needed policies.
- Ensure that organizational HR practices are in compliance within applicable regional, state, and national laws; maintain and update employee handbook as required.
- Lead orientation and onboarding of new staff to organization-wide systems. 

_Organizational Development and Governance_
- Collaborate regularly with the Board and the organization’s Leadership Team to steward IfNotNow’s organizational development in parallel with its strategic development.
- Identify opportunities and strategies to deepen the organization’s commitment to volunteer leadership, racial equity and inclusion, and long term sustainability.
- Find ways to bring the organization into deeper alignment with nonprofit best practices while maintaining a high level of volunteer participation and leadership.

**Essential Qualifications**
- 2+ years of experience with nonprofit accounting using Quickbooks
- 2+ years experience managing multi-entity and multi-state organizations, and familiarity with the rules governing different types of non-profit entities
- Experience supporting operations for electoral, political, advocacy, organizing and/or social movement organizations.
- Firm understanding of GAAP nonprofit accounting policies and procedures
- Responsible and proactive problem-solver; resourceful, organized, and extraordinarily attuned to detail
- Understands that buy-in, onboarding, and active implementation are necessary to bring written policies to life.

- Ability to communicate complicated financial data and information to a layperson audience
- An analytical systems thinker who is constantly identifying opportunities and taking initiative to improve processes 
- Oriented towards creating accessible systems to support volunteer leadership
- Relational, strong communicator, able to work in a fast-paced and highly-collaborative environment
- Understands the interplay between the strategy, structure, and culture of an organization
- Has awareness around dynamics around power and privilege and can work well with people from different identities
- Personal investment in IfNotNow’s mission: organizing the American Jewish community to end U.S. support for Israel’s apartheid system.
