Job Description: Curtis Hertel’s Campaign for Congress in Michigan’s 7th District is seeking a full-time Press Secretary to begin ASAP.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with state, local and national media relevant to the campaign
- Execute an aggressive earned media plan.
- Write and circulate press releases on a continuous basis.
- Plan and execute consistent press events with the candidate.
- Draft social media copy and assist in maintaining activity on social channels.
- Work alongside the Candidate, Campaign Manager, and Consultant Team to develop campaign messages, including writing talking points and remarks for the candidate.
- Prepare briefing materials and assist in sessions ahead of press appearances.
Job Requirements:
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- 1-2 cycles of general campaign experience preferred but not required; 1+ years of general political communications experience required.
- Experience with and/or willingness to learn and work with Mailchimp and other CRMs.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
- Located in/near Lansing or willing to relocate to the district for in-person work.
- Licensed driver with access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursements included).
- A strong passion to elect Democrats, keep the MI-07th blue, and flip the House!
Salary is $5,000 to $6,000 per month, commensurate with experience. Stipends for healthcare and technology costs are also provided, as well as mileage reimbursement.
