**Position Summary:**
Rise’s National Organizing Director is a key member of the Executive Team who oversees Rise’s grassroots organizing work across all focus states. The National Organizing Director strategizes, plans, and executes comprehensive electoral engagement programs with a specific focus on designing programs that facilitate high-quality conversations with an emphasis on reaching young, first-time voters of color. They are responsible for achieving the program’s voter contact goals, developing team culture, and ensuring the program’s overall integrity. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of the national organizing program. This includes designing and implementing the national organizing plan, determining the strategic direction of the national program, and supporting state directors to implement state shifts where they see fit as leaders within the organization. 

The National Organizing Director will spend 20% of their time supporting their time developing pragmatic goals and adjustments as they arise; while supporting them to understand their state's programming. They will spend 80% of their time directly managing the organizing teams (including Deputy Directors, and anticipated student fellows) to ensure the execution of in-the-field organizing programming. A successful candidate for this role will have a deep passion for organizing, ambition to scale up Rise’s program, and support State Directors and Deputy Directors by troubleshooting their needs as they arise. This position reports directly to Rise’s CEO. The nature of these responsibilities may grow or shift as Rise gains more resources.

**Primary Job Responsibilities:**

**Leadership and Management:** The National Organizing Director (NOD) directly manages the Deputy National Organizing Director whose main role will be to provide guidance and operational support to our state-based organizers on the ground (state deputy directors, lead campus organizers, field organizers). The NOD will also manage and meet weekly with State Directors to provide 1:1 support with any state-based organizing programmatic needs. The NOD will provide high-quality organizing management and support through regular group meetings with State Directors, Deputy Directors, the Deputy National Organizing Director, as well as any full- or part-time data staff. The NOD will also manage the Director of Government Relations to ensure the success of Rise’s Advocacy program.

**Campaign Strategy and Field-based Campaign Work:** The National Organizing Director (NOD)  is responsible for developing the overall organizing program and plans for the year in collaboration with State Directors, and the CEO. The NOD will stay tuned in to key states' current issues to inform our national strategy and help to co-create and implement state-based education, civic engagement, and advocacy campaigns to grow our base and engage new young people in our work. Additionally, the NOD will lead and manage all electoral work each election cycle to increase diverse youth participation in our democracy, as well as manage free college advocacy activities at the state level in partnership with State Directors.

**Implementation: **Facilitate successful implementation of organizing technology tools, including the best use of CRM EveryAction, peer-to-peer organizing tools (REACH), e-mail, and phone calls to increase engagement by the organizing staff and volunteers. Work with the Director of Programming to develop and implement training that builds the capacity of Rise team members, supporters, and organizers to be strong leaders, advocates, and trusted messengers on their campuses and within their communities. Design and implement a metrics-based reporting system to scale and track the department’s progress to goals, produce reports, and adjust plans as necessary. Lastly, the NOD will develop, implement, and monitor the approved departmental budget.

**Content Development**: The National Organizing Director (NOD) will support the development of state-specific video content, social media campaigns, live events, and other relevant content creation as needed in partnership with State Directors. This may include the use of short-form video ecosystems like TikTok, Reels, or Triller to communicate effectively about policies, events, coalitions, campaigns, trends, related hashtags, and other news of the day.
The National Organizing Director meets at least weekly, and often more frequently, with the CEO to develop solutions and strategy, problem-solve, and identify opportunities for growth. 

**Candidate Qualifications: **
- At least three cycles of experience leading state-wide high-impact GOTV programs or three years of experience managing an organizing program in multiple states  
- Knowledge and experience working with diverse groups, sensitivity to cultural differences, and a commitment to an inclusive and intersectional approach to organizing 
- Strong personnel management skills, including the ability to develop the skill set of new organizers and hold staff accountable to goals 
- Able to adapt and be flexible to last-minute changes 
- Comfort working in a “startup” environment with fewer resources and structures in place than mature, established organizations 
- Willingness and ability to travel, and work irregular but predictable hours
- Experience or familiarity with data management tools such as VAN, EveryAction, Reach, HubSpot, etc.
- Familiarity with college or youth organizing preferred
