JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a contract Account Management Associate to own the full client journey, from first contact to signed engagement. This is a hybrid role that combines the relationship instincts of a great account manager with the hustle and strategic thinking of a business development professional. This role is well-suited to someone who has worked in a research, consulting, media, or political environment and understands how to sell a service that requires both trust and explanation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & Pipeline Management

  • Identify, qualify, and prioritize inbound and outbound leads.

  • Conduct initial discovery calls to understand prospect needs.

  • Deliver compelling, tailored product demos that illustrate how our research offerings meet specific client needs.

  • Develop and execute follow-up strategies that move prospects through the pipeline without losing momentum.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in CRM, including pipeline status, contact history, next steps, and projected close dates.

  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to keep senior leadership apprised of pipeline status, ensuring accurate revenue and workload projections.

  • Collaborate with research and leadership on proposal development, scoping, and pricing for prospective engagements.

Client Onboarding & Transition

  • Serve as the primary point of contact through the prospect-to-client transition to ensure a smooth, confidence-building handoff from sales to active engagement.

  • Lead onboarding conversations that orient new clients on deliverable formats, timelines, communication cadences, and how to get the most from their research subscription.

  • Work with the research team to ensure the first deliverable cycle (briefings, polling, or recommendations) reflects the client's stated needs.

  • Identify and surface any early misalignments or expectation gaps before they become retention risks.

Account Management & Retention

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with active clients, serving as their advocate internally and their primary touchpoint externally.

  • Lead regular client check-ins tied to deliverable cadences (monthly and quarterly briefings, polling cycles).

  • Translate complex research findings into accessible, actionable conversations for clients who may not have a research background.

  • Identify expansion and renewal opportunities within the existing client base and bring them back into the business development pipeline.

  • Track client health and flag any satisfaction or engagement risks to leadership proactively.

Market & Product Feedback

  • Serve as the voice of the market internally by identifying patterns from prospect conversations that inform product positioning, packaging, and research focus areas.

  • Contribute to the development of sales materials, demo decks, and case study documentation.

  • Participate in broader strategy discussions where research client insights are relevant.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3–6 years of experience in account management, business development, client services, or sales, ideally in a research, consulting, political, media, or data-driven environment.

  • Strong presentation and demo skills. You can walk a room through a research product and make it feel immediately relevant to their specific situation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • CRM discipline - you keep your pipeline clean and your notes current without being asked

  • Natural relationship builder with genuine curiosity about clients' work, audiences, and goals.

  • Ability to hold the client relationship across the full lifecycle.

  • Comfort with subject matter that touches on demographics, public opinion, political communication, and audience research.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Direct experience in political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or public affairs.

  • Background at a research firm, polling organization, or market intelligence company.

  • Experience selling subscription or retainer-based services with recurring deliverable cycles.

  • Familiarity with how polling and audience segmentation research is produced and applied.

  • Existing network in political, nonprofit, brand, or media sectors.
