Georgia Youth Justice Coalition seeks a full-time ** Advocacy Manager** to organize young Georgians to take action in the legislative and electoral process across the state.

Georgia Youth Justice Coalition is a youth-led nonprofit that cultivates youth leadership in democracy. Our work to engage communities, activate youth, and promote civic education empowers young Georgians as changemakers within their communities. Founded as a grassroots youth organization in 2021, Georgia Youth Justice Coalition now maintains an organizing presence in 16 counties and 20 college campuses. About the Position

As the Advocacy Manager, you will work directly with the Deputy Executive Director of Organizing and Training, youth staff, and youth volunteers to ensure our issue and electoral work translates into sustained participation and real political power. The ideal candidate for the role is a relationship person who is driven by helping people move into leadership and action. They are a passionate advocate, disciplined organizer, and community builder who understands that policy change only happens when people show up consistently and together. They believe advocacy is not about amassing knowledge, but about equipping young Georgians with the confidence and skills to influence decisions that shape our lives.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Recruit and support young Georgians in attending Board of Education meetings and participating in the legislative process at the local and state level.

  • Empower young Georgians and voters of all ages to make informed electoral choices through consistent base engagement and structured voter contact.

  • Regularly engage GYJC chapters in issue advocacy and civic education work in a way that builds community and shared purpose across our membership program.

  • Show up consistently with members through one-on-ones, chapter meetings, and community events to deepen commitment and build sustained participation.

  • Knock doors, make calls, and high traffic canvass to identify advocacy priorities and strengthen issue campaigns with real voter insight.

  • Ensure the team is up-to-date on internal needs and escalate issues as they arise, acting with discretion and handling information with care.

  • Communicate proactively with your manager and your teammates when challenges arise, offering direct, respectful feedback and solutions-oriented thinking.

  • Approach youth leadership with real respect and care, recognizing their skills, insight, experience, and development as essential to organizational decisions and success.

  • Foster and maintain a positive, productive team culture.

 

Qualifications

  • Eagerness to organize and motivate young people to participate in democracy.

  • Familiarity with key issues and best practices at the local, state, and federal level.

  • Culturally competent in building and maintaining relationships across lines of difference such as race, class, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and flexibility with a willingness to meet and exceed goals, implement feedback, and problem-solve effectively.

  • Strong commitment to progressive values and to do the work that needs to be done.

  • Have a driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.

 

Working at the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition

This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to the Deputy Executive Director of Organizing and Training. Car travel within the state of Georgia will be required 30-35% for general execution of the role. We offer a generous benefits package which includes unlimited PTO; professional development stipend; and insurance plans for health, dental, and vision. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Georgia for this in person role.

 

Salary: $47,000 - $55,000 based on experience
