JOB DESCRIPTION

The National Democratic Training Committee (NDTC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced marketing professional to join our team as an Associate Director of Marketing & Communication. This position will answer to the Director of Marketing & Communication, serving as second in command, and with hands-on responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a growing team – currently three FTEs, plus an intern and varying external contractors. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director to develop and execute multi-channel integrated marketing and communication strategies, and drive brand awareness, audience growth, and engagement. This is a key senior management role which requires strong strategic thinking, cross team and project management skills, and a passion for driving results.

This is a full-time role reporting directly to the Director of Marketing & Communication.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Marketing Strategy: Assist in developing and executing multi-channel integrated marketing plans to achieve NDTC’s marketing objectives including greater brand awareness, audience growth, and engagement nationwide. 

  • Team Management: Assist the Director in supervising a team of three marketing & communication professionals and an intern,  providing guidance, coaching, and performance management to ensure successful implementation of NDTC’s marketing strategy. Work closely with and across teams (Special Projects, Development, Political, Live Training, and Curriculum) to ensure alignment, coordination, and maximize impact.

  • Brand Development: Collaborate with the Director and across teams to maintain and evolve the company's brand identity, messaging, and visual aesthetic across all channels. Work closely with the Director and colleagues at the senior staff level to recognize and leverage media opportunities, especially those to grow the CEO’s visibility. 

  • Content Creation and Supervision: Oversee the development and dissemination of high-quality content (including written, visual, audio and video content) for various marketing communication channels, including social media, email, blogs, podcasts, texting, and the website.

  • Digital Marketing: Provide strong cross-team project management and hands-on supervision of an intricate integrated outreach calendar to segment and grow the audience, deepen engagement, and get NDTC in front of more learners. 

  • Analytics and Reporting: Support the Director in analyzing outreach performance using data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and provide regular reporting, insights and analysis to stakeholders.

  • Industry Research: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies, including generative AI (artificial intelligence) to inform marketing communication strategies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/Be:

  • A self-starter with a proven track record of successful marketing communication campaigns and team management, especially in collaborative team environments

  • Excellent inter-personal communication, project management, and analytical skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to gain buy-in from multiple parties in a collaborative environment

  • 5+ years of broad experience in managing, implementing, and increasingly leading marketing and communications with political, advocacy and/or nonprofit organizations

  • Broad experience with digital organizing, digital issue advocacy campaigns, and/or political campaigns

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels (e.g., paid social, email, search) and best practices (e.g., GDPR, data protection and privacy, email and texting compliance)

  • Experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) and data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)

  • Foundational understanding of generative AI and commonly-used tools and platforms, with the interest and ability to expand subject matter expertise in the area

  • Interest and ability to follow industry conversations and recommend strategic investment in emergent platforms
