We are hiring an Associate to support our Health Care, Economic Mobility, and Climate practice teams. This is an entry-level role for a detail-oriented, self-directed communicator who is eager to build skills at the intersection of media, politics, and advocacy — and who is ready to grow with a firm on the move.
As an Associate, you will support senior team members across client accounts, contributing to earned media, digital content, research, and day-to-day client work. You will be a key operational support for the firm's practice leads and play an essential role in ensuring client work is executed with care and consistency.
This role reports to practice area leadership and is a strong fit for someone with administrative or support experience who is ready to transition into strategic communications.
Support client teams across the Health Care, Economic Mobility, and Climate practices with research, drafting, and logistics
Monitor and compile media coverage across broadcast, print, digital, and social channels
Draft and publish social media content and develop monthly social media reports
Produce first drafts of press-facing materials, including pitches and media advisories
Build and maintain press contact lists and support earned media outreach
Develop digital content, including basic graphic design, with minimal edits
Assist with client meeting logistics, agendas, and notetaking
Master the firm's tools and technology resources, including Cision, Canva, Mailchimp, and Claude
Support new business development through research and writing
1–2 years of relevant experience in communications, writing, journalism, research, public relations, politics, or a related field — including internships
Strong writing skills with a sharp eye for detail and command of AP Style
Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive, organized, and able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
Comfortable supporting and taking direction from senior staff and firm principals
Interest in health care, economic mobility, climate, or adjacent policy areas
Familiarity with Cision, Canva, Mailchimp, Claude, and/or basic video editing preferred
Must be based in the Washington, DC area with the ability to be on-site with clients and in the office on a regular basis
This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position based in the Washington, DC area. The salary range for this role is $50,000–$55,000.
