As the Bilingual Communications & Narrative Coordinator, you will serve as a key spokesperson and writer for our organization, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, especially within the Latinx, BIPOC, and Working Class communities. This role requires an individual who can fluently communicate in both English and Spanish, ensuring our messages are clear, culturally relevant, and impactful. The ideal candidate will manage media relations, develop strategic messaging, and craft narratives that advance our mission and amplify our work across multiple platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Video Content Participation: Participate in video content creation, including scripting, on-screen appearances, and voiceovers in both languages.

Managing Media at press conferences or press events

Media Relations: Serve as one of the primary points of contact for media inquiries, pitch stories to bilingual and mainstream media outlets, and cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers, especially with Spanish media.

Message Development: Support in the development of clear, concise, and compelling talking points, press releases, and statements that align with our organizational goals and reflect our values.

Narrative Writing: Develop and write stories that highlight the impact of our work, focusing on human interest stories that can be used in speeches, social media, publications, and campaigns.

Bilingual Content Creation: Translate and adapt content from English to Spanish and vice versa, ensuring cultural accuracy and relevance.

Strategic Communications: Collaborate with the communications team to develop and implement strategies that raise awareness and promote our initiatives to a broad audience.

Crisis Communications: Respond to media inquiries in a timely and effective manner, especially in high-pressure situations, while maintaining our organization’s voice and message.

Media Monitoring: Track media coverage and report on the effectiveness of press strategies, adjusting tactics as needed.

Social Media Support: Work with the digital team to create content that drives engagement on social media platforms in both languages.

Compose correspondence, prepare presentations, reports, and other ad-hoc assignments, such as Google Slide presentations, collection, analysis, and summary of information using Google Sheets or other Google Suite programs.

Timely distributes business communications..

Protect the integrity of confidential information in all matters.

To succeed in this role, you need: (Examples listed can be edited according to the position)

 

Required Skills:

Experience in electoral or political communications.

Familiarity with Arizona’s political landscape and key issues.

Graphic design and/or multimedia production skills.Experience with on-camera interviews and video content creation in both English and Spanish.

Associate's degree or higher

An equivalent combination of education and experience of at least 3 years experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired as necessary.

3+ years of experience in a press secretary, public relations, or narrative writing role, preferably within the nonprofit, advocacy, or political sector.

Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both languages.

Strong understanding of media relations and a proven track record of securing media coverage.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Deep understanding of issues affecting Hispanic/Latinx communities and other marginalized groups.

Skilled in reviewing, screening, and prioritizing mail, email, and telephone calls.

Must be proficient in the English language for both grammar and composition purposes and spelling to communicate effectively, prepare reports, record minutes of meetings, and compose routine correspondence and other directives.

Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.

Ability to work with and adapt to various personalities and all levels of personnel within the organization.

Proficient secretarial and analytical skills including typing, filing, dictation, proofreading and editing correspondence, duplication equipment, standard computer software programs, and electronic mail.

Advanced proficiency in Google email and its applications, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint with intermediate Excel skills. Experience using a Mac or other Apple products is preferred, but not required
