About Siembra

Siembra NC is a base building organization focused on building power by organizing Latines and workers throughout the state of North Carolina. We organize hundreds of members across the state to take up campaigns that fight to stop wage theft, defend our rights, and recruit more of our gente to join bigger fights. Our North Star is to organize North Carolina into the best state for workers. In addition to our base building and issue based fights, we also build campaigns that engage voters across the state and that build the story of the real majority of our state, everyday workers, like us. 

 

Siembra NC is made up of three organizations Siembra NC (501c4), Somos Siembra (501c3) Siembra PAC (federal political action committee).

About the Position

Siembra NC seeks an innovative Finance & Operations Director that can oversee and optimize the daily activities and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations of Siembra NC. The Finance & Operations Director is primarily responsible for developing and implementing operational strategies in partnership with other executives, managing budgets, implementing employment policies, and the financial management and oversight of the organizations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned manager that is ready to build out our organizational capacity. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

Operations & Human Resources

  • Implements the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day operations

  • Identifies and implements improvements to streamline operations to enhance efficiency 

  • Manages human resources practices, including overseeing the onboarding and offboarding of staff and contractors 

  • Manages overall vendor relationships including setting up contracts and paying out invoices

  • Manages and analyzes staff timesheet data, working closely with executive directors to ensure compliance 

  • Maintains positive communication with staff to ensure that they understand and follow new directives, policies or procedures to managers. 

Finance

  • Develops and manages the annual budget in partnership with executive leadership and board 

  • Supervises financial operations, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and cash flow management.

  • Communicates with staff around bookkeeping and vendor management

  • Ensures compliance with grant and financial reporting requirements.

  • Oversees the annual audits, 990 process, and ensures regulatory compliance.

  • Monitors company revenue margins and conducting budget reviews 

  • Works in conjunction with the Co-Directors to ensure staff are adhering to financial protocols and procedures, including but not limited to campaign finance obligations; budget allocations, and other related policies.

  • Manages fiscal sponsorship of our fiscally sponsored project(s)

Supervision & Leadership 

  • Overall manages the relationship and work plans with the organization’s bookkeeping contractor 

  • Supervises other administrative staff, as assigned 

  • Takes responsibility for their role in creating an innovate and rigorous organizational culture and models our organizational values 

  • Works closely with staff and contracts to explain operations, answer questions, and maintain morale

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in operations and/or financial management 

  • Excellent or advanced speaking and writing skills in both English and Spanish

  • Experience working with working class people with different comfort levels to technology

  • Ability to cultivate relationships with staff and vendors 

  • Work diligently under tight deadlines

  • Comfortable overseeing multi-entity operations  

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment

  • An excellent collaborator and team player

  • Ability to to solve problems creatively and thoroughly, showing consistent curiosity about others while have a strong capacity for maintaining attention to detail across several areas of work

Benefits and Compensation

This is a full-time, salaried position at the equivalent of $89,500 - $94,500 a year, based on equity, experience and qualifications. We offer employer-based medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents and a generous paid time off policy.
