Freddy Perez Jr. is running for New York City Council’s 17th District located in the South Bronx. As a South Bronx native, Freddy Perez Jr. has long dedicated himself to public service at home. He currently serves as Vice Chair of Bronx Community Board 1 and as the Male Democratic District Leader of the 84th Assembly District. Outside of his work in local politics, Freddy owns and operates a small business in the South Bronx and cares for his family. Freddy is running for a stronger South Bronx. His priorities include, improving public safety, constituents’ quality of life, and advocating for truly affordable housing.

Campaign Fellowship Role Description:
This is a part time, unpaid, on-site fellowship for undergraduate students curious about working on a democratic political campaign. The timeline for the role is April 1st to June 24th (the date of the primary election). The Campaign Fellow will take a hands-on role in voter contact operations, volunteer management, canvassing, phone banking, and our team’s community outreach strategy at large. This position will report to the Field Director at our campaign office at 629 Melrose Avenue.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Field Director’s communication with local community organizations to recruit a robust base of volunteers.
Train volunteers in door-to-door canvassing and phone banking to ensure our messaging is coordinated and clear.
Take a leading role in field operations by making contact with voters in the community on a consistent weekly basis.
Assists the Field Director in strategizing about local community outreach to increase volunteer membership and campaign visibility.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in an undergraduate program.
Curiosity and enthusiasm about working on a political campaign.
Knowledge of issues and community organizations local to the South Bronx is a plus.
Political Science major, minor, or concentrator is a plus.
