JOB DESCRIPTION

In this program, most interns will act as field support, engaging in direct voter contact. There may be additional opportunities in other areas, like digital, finance, and research, as the campaign approaches the general election in November.

Interns are expected to engage in a minimum of 5 hours of direct voter contact per week, some of which may be done remotely in the case of phonebanking. Interns are encouraged to “table” at their college campuses if appropriate. Interns will attend campaign events, knock doors, and may engage in other works as it arises.

The program coordinator will host a mandatory weekly meeting to go over goals and expectations for interns. This meeting may be in person at the office or remote via Zoom/Google Meet. Interns are also expected to go through a brief onboarding process, which may be one-on-one with the program coordinator or in a small group.

Interns will be provided with necessary materials and structure to excel in their positions. Professional development is a major component of this program. Interns will be trained on in-demand skills to advance their careers in politics and guided on how to build their professional networks. Successful interns will exit this program with more confidence and greater competence in their social and organizational skills.

We will accept applications to the internship program  on a rolling basis until June 30th 2025, with possibility of extension until November 10. We encourage you to apply!

Ideal Experience and Characteristics:

  • No prior campaign experience needed.

  • Interest in campaigns or issue advocacy.

  • Existing relationships in New York City, especially Manhattan, a plus.

  • A strong ability to demonstrate cultural competence and the skills needed to work meaningfully with those who are culturally different from the self; a commitment to fostering a positive working environment grounded in the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Highly organized and independent work style; a strong ability to multitask and communicate.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build relationships, listen, collaborate, and lead with respect and professionalism.
