JOB DESCRIPTION

Democratic candidate for a rural New York State Assembly seat seeks a campaign manager to support the candidate and a core group of volunteers. Janet Tweed, candidate for Assembly District 102, is a front-line medical worker and local elected official. She just won her Democratic primary and will face Republican Chris Tague in the fall. The 102nd district is part of the 19th congressional district, one of the most closely fought congressional districts in the US. Janet’s campaign manager will work closely with the New York State Democratic Coordinated Campaign, which includes congressional candidate Josh Riley and state senate candidates Michele Frazier and Michelle Hinchey.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working on-the-ground in campaigns.

  • Have a car and understand that the job will require extensive travel with and without the candidate.

  • Be competent with VAN/votebuilder, and/or be open to being trained in using this software. This software is used by many Democratic campaigns in NYS and it enables cutting walking turfs, creating phone and text banks, and targeting likely voters.

  • Spend significant time building relationships with Dem and progressive group leaders throughout the district.

  • Develop and implement a fundraising plan.

  • Solicit endorsements, and complete all endorsement requirements, in collaboration with the candidate.

  • Work closely with the NY Dems field organizing team, and serve as the link between them and the campaign.

  • Work with non-affiliated groups to coordinate strategies.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with County Chairs and their teams.

  • Develop relationships with key players such that when you call they answer, and are supportive.

  • Be able to plan ahead for purchasing materials, print, and social media ads.

  • Develop strategies for increasing visibility and name recognition.

  • Door knocking and phone calls – organizing these efforts and doing this work personally.

  • Identify additional positions- paid and volunteer that need to be added to this campaign and work with the candidate and treasurer on budgeting

Competitive, negotiable salary. Open to either part-time or full-time applicants.
