Villegas for Congress is seeking an experienced manager and campaign strategist to serve as Campaign Manager for a highly competitive, battleground 2026 House race.
About Randy Villegas: Randy is the son of immigrants and a Central Valley native, running to be a new voice for the party and a voice for his community. Growing up in Bakersfield, Randy worked at his family's auto shop in the heart of the district, to help his family make ends meet. Education allowed Randy to achieve the American dream, becoming the first in his family to receive a college education. After graduating from California State University in Bakersfield, Randy earned a full-ride fellowship to UC Santa Cruz, receiving his graduate and doctorate degrees. He is now a local school board member and community college professor, who was inspired to run for office amidst cuts to federal programs he relied on as a child. Randy has been a prominent community advocate for the local immigrant community and protecting healthcare. Randy is running to set a new standard for representation in California’s 22nd Congressional District.
About CA-22: California’s 22nd Congressional District is a swing district which has swung between both parties for the past decade. The district is rated R+1 by Cook Political Report, and it was most recently flipped in 2018 by TJ Cox. In 2024, over $30M was spent in this nationally watched battleground district. The district includes parts of Tulare, Kings, & Kern counties in California’s Central Valley. This district has the highest percentage of residents who rely on medicaid for healthcare in the country, with about 70% of the population facing loss of healthcare as a result of the Trump administration’s budget cuts.
Position Overview: The Campaign Manager will be responsible for managing campaign staff, working seamlessly with a fantastic team of consultants and stakeholders, managing a $8M+ budget, setting and achieving strategic goals, and working long campaign hours to ensure a successful campaign. The campaign manager will report directly to the candidate.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Hire, train, and manage campaign staff.
• Develop and manage a campaign plan and budget.
• Cultivate and manage relationships with stakeholders across the political spectrum and provide campaign updates as needed.
• Manage campaign cash flow with the Finance Director.
• Oversee all aspects of the campaign including fundraising, field, communications and political.
• Manage the consultant team.
• Set strategic priorities and ensure they are reflected in the campaign schedule.
• Ensure campaign administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, payroll, billing, compliance, HR, and other office operations are properly handled.
• Staff the candidate and other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
• At least two cycles of campaign experience required.
• Experience developing and managing a campaign plan, budget, and monitoring cash flows, and navigating budget gaps is a plus.
• Comfortability working with stakeholders across the political spectrum and ability to adapt an innovative approach to running in a battleground district.
• Supervisory experience, including managing staff, candidates, or teams/coalitions.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially conflict resolution.
• Skilled facilitator who can lead meetings, strategic planning, and other processes.
• Strong organizational skills, to ensure the team is working in a coordinated and organized manner across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Self-starter with great time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using Google Suite and NGPVAN. Experience with Warchest is a plus.
• Familiarity with election compliance law.
• Must have a driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Location: Bakersfield, California
Compensation: $8,000 - $9,500 monthly, commensurate with experience.
