JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview
A midwestern congressional campaign is seeking experienced, motivated professionals to apply for the position of campaign manager in a trending purple district. The position is salaried, full-time, open to start immediately. Remote start available, but relocation necessary by early-June. The position reports directly to the candidate and manages the consulting team.
Successful applicants will have a background relevant to the field of management, communications, field, fundraising or research with a fundamental understanding of the core skillsets that result in success. A willingness to engage in and successfully complete multiple projects at a time, strong work ethic, comfort in a fast-paced, small office environment, and demonstrable organizational skills are all indicative of success. This position is ideal for previous campaign managers, field directors, or finance directors who are capable of using past experience to demonstrate capability of managing at a high level.
Description
The campaign manager’s primary job is to help the campaign win. In order to accomplish this goal, they will oversee and manage all aspects of the campaign, including but not limited to drafting and executing all campaign plans, managing the candidate’s time, setting and achieving strategic goals, and executing all hiring and firing decisions. They will also be expected to manage the consultant team, budget, stakeholder relationships, personnel, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Developing and executing a multifaceted finance plan with programs aimed at multiple donor categories (including PACs, high and low dollar individuals, and other institutional givers).
- Managing and utilizing skills of candidate, staff, consultants, and kitchen cabinet.
- Working with consultants and others to develop and execute paid communications, social media, and overall campaign messaging.
- Overseeing field operations, including canvass scheduling and launches, volunteer recruitment, engagement and retention.
- Managing day to day campaign operations, coordinating candidate/principal’s schedule and prioritizing to ensure time is allocated wisely.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with outside political organizations.
- Overseeing fundraising process, including call time, events, and major donor outreach.
- Creating synergy between different campaign departments
- Approving and ensuring expenditures are paid for in timely manner
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have some of the following qualities, experience, or core knowledge:
- 1-2 cycles of campaign experience. Field organizing experience and/or fundraising preferred, but not required.
- Experience using VAN, ActBlue, and other campaign software (Google Suite, Switchboard, Numero, Action Network, etc.).
- Willingness to adapt to new environments, build relationships quickly, and learn.
- Clear leadership skills, demonstration of respect and inclusivity, and collaborative nature.
- Ability to problem-solve, discover solutions to vexing problems, and capacity to execute quickly once decisions are made.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once and keep calm in stressful situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
