Ken Cooper, a Democratic candidate for Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Campaign Manager to lead his campaign through the general election. This full-time position demands a commitment to grassroots values and the ability to build strong community connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Campaign Strategy and Execution:
Develop and implement a comprehensive campaign plan, outlining efforts through Election Day. This includes fundraising, canvassing, phone banking, volunteer recruitment, district outreach, and media relations.
Coordinate with senior staff and consultants to ensure alignment with campaign goals and strategic objectives.
Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with local activists, community leaders, and organizations.
Engage with community members to understand their concerns and ensure the campaign reflects grassroots priorities.
Coordinate district outreach efforts to effectively connect with various community groups.
Field Operations and Voter Outreach:
Execute a robust field program that integrates traditional and innovative voter contact methods.
Develop and implement a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) strategy, collaborating with local groups to maximize voter turnout and prevent duplicated efforts.
Analyze local demographics, political trends, and community issues to inform campaign strategies.
Volunteer Recruitment and Management:
Recruit, train, and lead a diverse team of volunteers.
Coordinate volunteer activities, including canvassing, phone banking, and community engagement events.
Develop strategies to maintain high volunteer engagement and retention.
Media and Communications:
Serve as the primary contact for local and state media, managing press opportunities and drafting press releases.
Collaborate with consultants to maintain and enhance the candidate’s social media platforms and website.
Prepare the candidate for media interviews, debates, and public appearances, ensuring effective messaging.
Fundraising and Financial Management:
Design and execute a multifaceted fundraising strategy, leveraging direct mail, phone calls, PAC contributions, and small events.
Manage candidate call time, conducting donor research, tracking pledges, and ensuring follow-up correspondence.
Oversee financial tracking of contributions and expenditures, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Candidate Support:
Manage the candidate’s schedule to ensure efficient use of time for canvassing, fundraising calls, and interviews.
Ensure the candidate is well-prepared for all campaign activities, providing necessary materials and information.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in political campaigns, whether paid or volunteer, with at least one cycle of campaign experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with the public and maintain confidentiality.
Familiarity with voter contact strategies and grassroots campaigning.
Advanced knowledge of NGP, Votebuilder, ActBlue, and other campaign software.
Preference for candidates with ties to Broward County or Miami-Dade County, or those with a deep understanding of the local community and political climate.
Willingness to work campaign hours, including evenings and weekends.
