Michael Roth is a Democrat running to flip New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District; one of the most competitive races in the country. Michael is running in his home district and brings deep public and private sector experience, including leadership at the U.S. Small Business Administration and as Co-CEO of the leading employee-owned economic development firm. Michael is running to restore the basic promise that everyone should have the opportunity to afford the life that they want to live. His campaign is rooted in restoring trust in government, tackling the affordability crisis, and expanding opportunity for every community in NJ-7.
We are building more than a campaign - we’re building a movement that prizes creativity, hustle, solutions, and humility. We’re looking for a Campaign Manager who’s ready to break the mold, shares the vision, and can build the path to victory in a district that could decide control of Congress.
The Campaign Manager is the senior-most staff member on the campaign and will be responsible for building and executing a winning strategic plan in coordination with the candidate, advisors, and consultants. This includes managing day-to-day operations, overseeing staff, setting and tracking goals, ensuring strategic alignment across departments, and being a trusted thought partner to the candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develop, manage, and regularly update the campaign’s comprehensive plan, including timelines, goals, and a comprehensive campaign budget
● Coordinate with consultants and key advisors to align campaign messaging and tactics
● Hire, manage, and coach staff, cultivating a high-trust, high-performance team culture
● Foster a strong team culture rooted in the values of the campaign and model those values for staff and supporters
● Oversee a robust field and voter contact program, in coordination with staff and volunteers
● Build, maintain, and support candidate relationships with local elected officials, community organizations, labor, advocacy groups, and party infrastructure
● Ensure cohesive public messaging across platforms and appearances
● Support candidate preparation for media, events, and public forums
● Oversee robust finance program including in person and virtual finance events along with digital and direct mail fundraising channels
● Work with campaign treasurer and compliance consultants to track expenditures and meet all FEC/legal requirements
Who You Are:
● You’ve managed at least 2 campaigns and have been part of political campaigns for at least 3 cycles, or bring equivalent experience from high-stakes roles in politics, advocacy, startups, or organizing
● You’re a strategic thinker who thrives in fast-changing environments and brings clarity to chaos
● You’re not afraid to take risks, test bold ideas, and learn fast from what doesn’t work
● You know how to lead people - building trust, driving accountability, and nurturing growth
● You’re energized by the possibility of doing things differently, including new tech, new messages, and new tactics
● You have a deep understanding of how campaigns work across organizing, fundraising, political, and digital operations
● You are comfortable working directly with the candidate - open-minded to new ideas and pushing back with your own beliefs
● You have a passion for economic opportunity, inclusive growth, and public service
● You are committed to working full-time campaign schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
● Familiarity with NJ-07 or New Jersey politics is a strong plus
