About the Candidate

Elizabeth Dempsey Beggs is a mother, veteran, foster parent, and advocate running for Congress in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. With a background as a U.S. Army Tank Commander and experience raising four young children—including children in foster care—Elizabeth’s campaign is centered on service, integrity, community, and fighting for a future where every family has the opportunity to thrive.

Position Overview

The Campaign Manager will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day campaign operations and executing a strategic plan to build a competitive, people-centered Democratic campaign. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and deeply committed to Democratic values and electing leaders who put people first.

This is a senior-level role requiring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage a fast-moving, multifaceted campaign.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the campaign’s strategic plan, including field, communications, digital, and fundraising components

  • Manage daily campaign operations and ensure the candidate’s time is used effectively

  • Recruit, train, and manage campaign staff, interns, and volunteers

  • Oversee fundraising efforts in partnership with the Finance Director, including call time, events, and donor outreach

  • Coordinate with consultants, partners, and stakeholders

  • Lead voter-contact programs and oversee data tracking and reporting

  • Support message development, press coordination, and rapid response

  • Ensure compliance with FEC regulations and reporting

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and local Democratic committees

  • Foster an inclusive, mission-driven campaign culture

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in campaigns or political organizing (campaign manager, field director, deputy campaign manager, or equivalent experience preferred)

  • Strong understanding of Democratic campaign strategy, including field, data, and fundraising fundamentals

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities at once

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience with NGP VAN/Votebuilder strongly preferred

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

  • Commitment to the values and mission of the campaign
