JOB DESCRIPTION

Leaders We Deserve is a political organization dedicated to electing the next generation of bold, young, progressive leaders to state legislatures and Congress by running hard-hitting independent expenditures on their behalf, along with working with them directly and advising them on all aspects of their campaign. By collaborating directly with candidates on their campaign strategy, communication, fundraising, political outreach, coalition building and more, LWD helps candidates take their campaign to the highest level and maximize their chance of winning.

LWD was co-founded by David Hogg, Parkland survivor and Gun Safety advocate, along with Kevin Lata, Congressman Maxwell Frost’s Campaign Manager and the 2022 Campaign Manager of the year.

 

Campaigns Associate Overview:

Leaders We Deserve is looking for a driven and eager Campaigns Associate to execute on Campaigns administrative tasks, streamline internal processes, and support the Campaigns team in executing projects effectively. This role will report to the Campaigns Director and work closely with all members of the LWD team, and will be pivotal to the success of the organization in 2026.

Term: Limited term, with a set end in November 2026

Campaigns Associate Responsibilities:

  • Internal Support for the Campaigns department

  • Facilitate endorsement memos by completing research, drafting, synthesizing race information and collaborating with other Campaigns staff to ensure accurate information in a timely manner.

  • Support the Campaign team through creating relationship documentation by updating the organizational database for partnership and collaborations.

  • Facilitate internal communication by relaying information from the endorsed campaigns to LWD senior staff to ensure that LWD endorsed candidates are supported in a meaningful and timely manner.

  • Communicate with and support LWD endorsed campaigns

  • Facilitate fundraising for endorsed candidates, including call time, facilitating budget calls, and completing donor research.

  • Be a thought partner and executor for overarching campaign strategy for LWD endorsed candidates.

  • Relationship management with campaigns - act as a representative for LWD for endorsed candidates and attend weekly or bi-weekly meetings to offer support as needed.

  • Provide on the ground support to LWD endorsed campaigns as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Campaigns Director.

 

Campaigns Associate Qualifications:

  • At least one cycle of prior experience in the campaign space, as a Field Organizer, Finance Associate, Deputy Finance Director, Call Time Manager, Field Director or other similar roles.  Campaign experience or prior work at a political organization is required for this role.

  • Ability to prioritize many tasks and competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to receive direction and take constructive criticism in stride.

  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

 

This role is dynamic and can be time intensive. Leaders We Deserve is looking for a candidate who is comfortable with the potential for late-night work sessions and weekend projects when there are important events, deadlines are pressing, or urgent needs arise. Additional responsibilities are likely to arise given the junior nature of this role, growth stage of the organization and the current political environment. Additionally, this role includes some travel across the country, which will be required.

 

Campaigns Associate Compensation:

  • Salary: $65,000 annually
