The Montana Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (MDLCC), the political arm of the Montana House and Senate Democratic caucuses, would like to announce an opening for the position of Campaigns Director. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a strong understanding of Montana’s political landscape, sound judgment, and an exceptional work ethic. The Campaigns Director will work directly with the Director to build the field program and provide support to legislative campaigns in their engagement and organizing efforts throughout the state. This role will involve supporting regional campaigns staff and candidates individually to ensure the success of campaigns.
Access to reliable transportation is required. This is a full-time, permanent role located in Helena, Montana that requires in-person work. Qualified applicants must have demonstrated skills in managing multiple staff members at various levels of responsibility, motivating people, and developing and implementing strategic plans. The salary ranges from $58,000-$63,000 per year, commensurate with experience. RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Director in developing a field program, building out a team, training candidates and regional campaign staff, supporting regional campaign staff, and ensuring we use data to lead our program to success.
Caucus/Field Program
Support the Director in creating and implementing the MDLCC’s field program to mobilize voters and support regional campaign staff in their assigned targeted districts
Represent MDLCC as needed at key political events, meetings, conferences, caucus meetings, coordinated campaign meetings, and events that advance program goals
Report field updates to the MDLCC Co-Chairs, Steering Committee, and various partners of MDLCC, and work with members of leadership on candidate support
Creating and managing an incumbent protection program for targeted members in the off-year
Staff Management
Assist the Director in recruiting, hiring, and supporting the day-to-day activities of the regional campaign staff and the Candidate Services Director
Develop voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals for regional campaign staff and train regional campaign staff in strategies to reach their goals
Provide ongoing support, motivation, and recognition to regional campaign staff and the Candidate Services Director

Candidate Support
Serve as a primary point of contact for Democratic candidates for the Legislature
Work with candidates and any assigned regional campaign staff to develop the infrastructure for their campaigns
Develop training materials and host in-person and virtual candidate trainings
Data Management
Maintain accurate records of caucus and candidate campaigns’ work, including, but not limited to, voter contact numbers and fundraising numbers
Collaborate with MDLCC leadership to establish quantitative and/or qualitative goals that track progress among staff and candidates
Research
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
Previous experience in political campaigns, campaign and/or staff management, community organizing, or grassroots advocacy preferred. Existing political relationships in Montana are preferred but not required. We’re seeking an individual with a proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with grassroots leaders and effectively manage staff.
Skills
Experience managing people in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency in using digital tools such as VAN and ActBlue, along with familiarity with Montana’s political filing platforms, preferred.
Education
No degree required.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required. Access to reliable transportation is also required. Commitment to MDLCC through the 2026 election required.
