Reports To: Field Organizer

 

Hours: 15 hours a week for September and October

 

Application and Start dates: Preferred ASAP start date

 

Salary and benefits: $1000 per month for 2 months

 

Location: Stevens Point, La Crosse, or Eau Claire

 

Summary: 350 Wisconsin Action is a 501(c)4 issue advocacy organization that works to change hearts and minds, laws and policies, and humanity’s massive systems to make transformational progress toward environmental justice and solving the climate crisis by 2030. 350 Wisconsin Action is committed to climate justice, the transition to clean, renewable energy, stopping oil pipelines in Wisconsin and surrounding states, and pushing financial institutions to divest from fossil fuel-related companies. 

 

350 WI Action was established by 350 Wisconsin, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been engaged in the fight against climate change since 2012. 

 

We are looking for  someone excited about doing this work and about working with us to advance climate justice, climate policies, and climate champions in government.

 

What the work looks like:

  • Door knock, phone bank, canvass, and connect with students on campus to get out the vote

  • Recruit and organize volunteers who are participating in election-related projects

  • Use and maintain the voter database

  • Gather and maintain data on campaign accomplishments (for example, number of volunteers participating in particular actions, number of voters reached, number of pledges to vote etc.)

 

 

Position requirements:

  • Passion or interest in politics

  • The ability to talk to people and connect with folks about issues and voting

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities 

  • Creative thinker who wants to find new and exciting ways to get people to the polls

  • Be enrolled in either UW-Stevens Point, UW-La Crosse, or UW-Eau Claire

  • Previous experience organizing is a plus

  • Regular access to transportation within assigned city

  • Secure access to a computer and the Internet (Public computers, such as computers in public libraries, are not acceptable)

  • Access to a smart phone

 

Hours are flexible. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
