The New York State Democratic Committee seeks a Campus Organizing Director to join our outreach efforts to students across Central New York, the Hudson Valley and Long Island. The Campus Organizing Director will be responsible for managing targeted campus organizing programs for the 2024 campaign cycle. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, creative thinkers who are dedicated to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

The Campus Organizing Director will:

  • Manage a four-person team of staff who are focused full time on building out robust and exciting campus and youth organizing programs

  • Build and deepen on-the-ground political relationships with campus stakeholders and leaders

  • Collaborate closely with the Organizing Director, field and political teams to amplify and fold programming into existing efforts in assigned geographic areas

Ideal Experience and Characteristics:

  • At least two cycles of campaign, political, advocacy, or organizing experience is preferred but not required. Previous experience teaching, managing, or working with students or young people is preferred but not required

  • A willingness to try new organizing tactics, build creative campus programming, and take inspiration from successful campus organizing initiatives across the country

  • Demonstrated commitment to championing and engaging young voters in the democratic process; existing relationships with colleges and universities in Central New York, the Hudson Valley, or on Long Island is a plus

  • Demonstrated cultural competence and the skills needed to work meaningfully with those who are culturally different from the self; a commitment to fostering a positive working environment grounded in the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Highly organized and independent work style; a strong ability to multitask and communicate

  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build relationships, listen, collaborate, and lead with respect and professionalism
