Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as Campus Organizing Fellows for the 2026 general election. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Overview:
Campus Organizing Fellows will be critical to our general election organizing program. Fellows will work to build bridges between Abdul’s campaign and students on campuses across the state. Primarily, fellows will be responsible for leading ‘Students for Abdul’ chapters on their respective campuses. These chapters will host campus events, expand student coalitions, build student power, and engage in direct voter contact outreach, with the ultimate goal of driving record student voter turnout for Abdul.
This will be a part-time position filled by students across the state. This position offers compensation in the form of a $250 weekly stipend for an average of 15 hours of work each week.
Responsibilities:
Lead a robust campus organizing effort that promotes Abdul and consolidates student interest into a sustained volunteer base
Recruit and onboard other students through calls, texts, and in-person conversations
Help plan and execute student engagement events, rallies, and voter drives
Track data in campaign tools to measure outreach and progress
Conduct voter contact via door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and texting
Provide interdepartmental support to digital and communications efforts if needed
Qualifications (Required):
Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
Commitment to thinking ** creatively** about how to build mass student support behind Abdul’s campaign
Commitment to building a driven and positive community of student fellows and student volunteers
Willingness to approach and speak with strangers in various settings
Willingness and ability to travel up to 4 hours driving distance for periodic in-person activities
Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Google Drive and Sheets/Excel
Qualifications (Preferred):
Previous experience as a student organizer
Previous experience in campaign work/electoral politics
Previous experience working in Michigan
Has regular access to a vehicle
