Democratic Party of Illinois Campus Organizing Fellowship Fall 2024 

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is seeking dynamic individuals to fill the position of Campus Organizing Fellow The Voter Protection Fellow will help manage parts of the 2024 General Election statewide voter protection program that will protect and encourage voter participation.

In the 2024 election cycle, the DPI will protect and elect Democrats up and down the ballot, while building the most active and inclusive party our state has ever seen. Our work is year-round, and our programs will focus on welcoming Illinois Democrats home to a party relentlessly focused on electing those who champion our causes and our communities. 

What Will You Do?

Campus Organizing Fellows will play a key role in helping us build the grassroots organization we need to win in 2024. You will participate in campaign training, receive structured coaching and support, and work closely with staff to implement our plan to persuade and mobilize Democratic voters.

As a Campus Fellow, you will:

  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers 

  • Secure voter commitments to vote for Democratic candidates by attending community events, tabling and other tactics

  • Support turnout efforts on campus by encouraging and providing resources on how to vote early and on Election Day. 

  • Use digital tools to engage new volunteers, expand the electorate, and highlight our work on the ground

Top things we’re looking for:

  • Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals and enthusiasm for Democratic candidates

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Goals-oriented and self-disciplined; able to meet tight deadlines and multitask

  • Good sense of humor and ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing work environment

  • Previous experience with VAN, Reach, Mobilize or other digital organizing tools a plus, but not required

Job Details

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student on one of the following campuses:

  • Northern Illinois University

  • Illinois State University

  • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

  • Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville

The position will start in August and run through November 8th. Fellows are expected to commit to at least 20 hours a week with the campaign. This is a paid position.
