JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Canvasser

Reports To: Campaign Manager, Field Director

Intention: Direct Voter Outreach 

Work Location, Hours: On-Site, up to 50 hrs/week (self-guided)

Pay Type: $20/hr, 1099

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Position Summary: The Canvasser reports to the Field Director and is responsible for door-to-door direct voter outreach to drive voter-turnout, more specifically for Joe Kerr for Congress. The Canvasser is responsible for consistent communication with the Field Director regarding any need for new materials, change in schedule, and notable conversations in the field. The Canvasser is responsible for communicating with the Campaign Manager for any voter interested in joining the campaign, contributing to the campaign, or hosting any events. The Canvasser is expected to maintain a set minimum hours/week, an average of about 20 houses/hour, accurate data input into SmartVAN, and convince constituents to vote Joe Kerr for Congress.

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Travels to assigned locations in district

  • Reviews, memorizes, and personalizes scripts and guidelines 

  • Builds a connection with constituents and answers all questions about the candidate

  • Fosters active discussions

  • Maintains professional appearance and conduct

  • Maintain accurate and complete data within the SmartVAN app

  • Submits hours end-of-day in group chat 

  • Other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Previous canvassing experience preferred though not required

  • Exemplary communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to walk for extended hours

  • Able to maintain a high level of energy and positive attitude

  • Must be able to commit to a consistent schedule 

  • Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in Democratic candidates

  • Ability to work with leaders, staff, and members at all levels of organizations

  • Commitment to the election of Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives
