Position Summary

  • Position: Canvassing Manager

  • Reports to: Statewide Campaigns Director

  • Location: Mohave County

  • Salary:$55,000-$65,000

Ignite the spirit of democracy as a Canvassing Manager with Rural Arizona Engagement (RAZA)! Take charge of a dynamic team of canvassers, spearheading operations that will shape the future of our communities. You'll be the driving force behind creating and canvassing operations and, working hand-in-hand with our Deputy Field Director and dedicated canvassing squad. Your role won't just be about paperwork - it's about catalyzing civic engagement, sparking positive transformation, and ensuring that every voter contact effort hits its mark with precision and impact. Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of canvassers responsible for conducting voter engagement in their assigned county.

  • Set clear performance goals and expectations for canvassers to include contact and registration goals.

  • Identify and evaluate potential canvassing locations within the assigned county. 

  • Develop detailed location plans for canvassers, including maps, routes, and schedules if necessary.

  • Coordinate with the canvassing team to ensure they have necessary materials and resources for their canvassing shifts.

  • Provide guidance on efficient canvassing techniques and strategies.

  • Provide ongoing support, feedback, and coaching to team members.

  • Conduct performance reviews with canvassers as needed based on performance or at the request of partner organizations. 

 

Canvassing Operations

  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, or virtual outreach to connect with voters. This involves engaging in meaningful conversations, answering questions, and discussing the candidate's platform or the cause's key issues.

  • Distribute literature, flyers, and other promotional materials to potential voters to increase visibility and awareness of Organizational mission and values.

  • Coordinate with other staff and volunteers to align canvassing strategies with broader Organization objectives. Participate in regular meetings to provide updates and receive guidance.

  • Actively engage in recruiting and training volunteers to expand the Organization's outreach efforts and maximize its impact on the community.

  • Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines while conducting canvassing activities, ensuring compliance with campaign finance laws and voter protection regulations.

  • Provide regular reports to campaign management on canvassing activities, progress, and any challenges encountered on the field.

 

Voter Registration 

  • Facilitate the voter registration process and ensure voters are prepared to cast their votes on Election Day.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of voter registration requirements and procedures in Arizona.

 

Quality Control

  • Address any errors or discrepancies promptly and take corrective actions as needed.

 

Analysis and Reporting

  • Ensure data security and compliance with regulations.

  • Provide updates to the Deputy Field Director and Campaigns Director as requested.

 

Communication and Collaboration

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the team.

  • Communicate effectively with campaign staff to coordinate efforts with broader campaign goals.

  • Establish relationships with community property owners or managers for securing permission to canvass on private property.

  • Collaborate with partner organizations.

 

Qualifications

  • Management Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

  • Ability to scout and select canvassing locations.

  • Knowledge of effective canvassing techniques and strategies.

  • Strong Communication Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of local voter registration regulations and requirements.

  • Quality Control 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and maintain high levels of efficiency and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage canvassing routes and track voter interactions.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, especially during election seasons.

  • Basic Technology Proficiency:

  • Proficiency with Google Suite and data management tools.

  • Basic technology proficiency for data entry and using Organization software or apps (i.e. Paychex, Expense Wire)

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous experience with political campaigns and/or as a canvasser

  • Basic data entry and analytic reporting experience including experience with Blocks

  • Knowledge of political issues, policies, and the Organization’s values

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish proficiency preferred
