Canvassing Manager Job Announcement

 

The Harris County Democratic Party (HCDP) is the official party for Democrats in the 3rd largest county in the United States. With 4.7 million citizens and 2.5 million registered voters, Harris County is home to 20% of the voting age population in Texas. In 2020, more than one in six Democratic votes came from Harris County. HCDP is pivotal to turning Texas blue, and we believe that as Texas goes, so goes the nation. HCDP is dedicated to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Victory 2024 Campaign Director, the HCDP is looking for a full-time staff member to manage the paid canvassing team for the Victory 2024 campaign through November 30 2024. Responsibilities will include hiring, training, and managing a large team of paid canvassers doing voter engagement and GOTV work throughout the 2024 election cycle, as well as assisting in the development of voter outreach programming, including scripts, targeting, data management, and coordination with other parts of the Victory 2024 campaign.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the hiring and training of paid canvassers

  • Supervise the work of paid canvassing team

  • Develop programming, including scripts and targets

  • Use VAN to cut turf for canvassers

  • Manage and ensure quality of data from canvassing operations

  • Coordinate with volunteers, candidates, and other elements of the campaign as necessary

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Some evenings and weekend hours may be required

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Spanish language proficiency preferred

  • Familiarity with VAN

  • Experience organizing in the Houston area

  • Experience with direct voter contact in a campaign setting

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Extremely organized, detailed oriented, and self-motivated

  • Ability to get along well with others and experience working with diverse and multicultural populations a plus

  • Deep commitment to equity and inclusion

  • Vehicle and working cell phone

 

Compensation

Monthly compensation will be in the range of $4,000-4,500 per month including health insurance, paid time off, and paid holidays.
