Youth Action Fund is a youth-led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to breaking down barriers to activism by providing resources to young Floridians. Through YAF’s S.P.A.R.K (Supporting Passionate Advocacy with Resources and Knowledge) Program, we provide funding, digital tools, strategic guidance, organizing capacity and amplification to incubate the community campaigns of young leaders.
We’re looking for a S.P.A.R.K Campaign Adviser in Central Florida who will enable young organizers to lead their own campaigns – and win them, too.
As a Campaign Adviser, your role will be to provide comprehensive support to S.P.A.R.K Program Advisees as they lead issue-based progressive community organizing projects. The primary role of the Adviser is to serve as a resource and coach to their Advisees by employing quality coaching practices, and drawing upon experience to promote strategies proven to be successful. Advisers will ensure campaign goals established with Advisees are achieved. Furthermore, Campaigns Advisers will proactively recruit young leaders into SPARK through direct outreach and relational organizing.

Compensation: $50,000 Annual Salary

Core Responsibilities:
SPARK Campaign Advising [60%]
Manage the full lifecycle of up to 10 S.P.A.R.K. Campaigns at a time, including but not limited to recruitment, goal setting, strategic planning power mapping, execution, and assessment.
Prepare and facilitate regularly scheduled check-ins with designated campaign leaders by creating agendas, reinforcing priorities, and following up for accountability.
Proactively identify campaign needs and connect designated Advisees with SPARK tools and offerings.
Design and promote strategies to achieve campaign goals which incorporate civic engagement channels and specific priority pressure tactics.
Employ strong coaching practices to support and develop SPARK leaders as they navigate challenges.
Ensure thorough data and goal tracking is incorporated into SPARK campaigns.
Create written reports and materials for designated SPARK campaigns.
Support designated Advisees’ by participating and representing YAF at in-person campaign actions and events.
Effectively present YAF training materials and resources to designated Advisees virtual and in-person.
Coordinate closely with regional Campaign Advisers and Advising Director to offer resources, ideate solutions, and foster intra-campaign collaboration.
Develop meaningful working relationships with designated Advisees that inspire long-term partnership and collaboration.
Participate in mandated staff meetings.
Relational Recruitment, Prospecting and Outreach [20%]
Represent YAF at community events, protests, rallies, trainings and more to build relationships and connect young leaders to the SPARK program.
Canvass campuses and community events within the assigned region to identify and recruit interested youth into the SPARK program.
Conduct digital and in-person outreach to student clubs and community organizations via email, DM, text, and other communication mediums.
Facilitate coordination between student organizations in assigned regions by supporting the creation of and coaching coalitions, committees and more.
Organizing + Team Support [20%]
Participate in mandated staff meetings.
Meet recruitment goals for assigned projects.
Contribute to and join ad hoc organizing projects as needed.
Take on specific support roles as needed for YAF actions.
Qualifications/Skills:
At least 2 years of professional experience in community organizing, in the context of a nonprofit organization, political campaign, or comparable setting.
Proven track record of success in organizing issue-based and/or grassroots campaigns.
Ability to powermap campuses, communities and other political geographies.
Strong understanding of how to effectively engage with civic institutions to advance policy goals.
Comfort with and ability to quickly build rapport and relationships.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with managing and/or training volunteers and young people.
Strong understanding of Florida’s political context.
Working understanding of and familiarity with organizations and networks, especially those composed of youth, within the designated region.
Passion in multiple areas of progressive advocacy.
Ability to work with youth from different backgrounds and who may share beliefs that you do not agree with.
Reliable means of transportation.
Nice to have, but not necessary:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Political Science or related field.
Familiarity with the Bonterra/NGP Suite, and Google Suite tools.
