About NAL:
New American Leaders (NAL) is the only national, nonpartisan, 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to training immigrants and refugees to become successful candidates, campaign managers, and civic leaders. We define "New Americans" as first- and second-generation Americans, immigrants, refugees, and those who identify with the immigrant experience. These individuals’ immigrant experience uniquely positions them to contribute to a more inclusive democracy.
Since our founding in 2010, NAL has embraced the immigrant experience as a civic leadership asset, providing a comprehensive arc of support that guides New Americans from initial candidate training through governance once they are in office. To date, NAL has trained over 2,000 New Americans across the country, with more than 200 alumni currently serving in elected or appointed positions, and nearly 100 running for office in 2026.
Scope of Work:
We believe the Central Valley's future should be shaped by the people who call it home, its immigrant families, its first- and second-generation Americans, and the next generation of leaders rising across the region. We've built real momentum here, and we're committed to this community for the long haul: building on the success of our training programs, deepening our work with training alumni, and growing a network of New American elected and appointed officials who are already governing in a way that reflects who we are.
