Location: This position is eligible for remote work within the state of Wisconsin with the understanding that presence in Madison will be required at a minimum of four times/month.
The civic engagement organizer will help drive Fair Wisconsin’s political & voter education programs, including tracking current events, coordinating and drafting materials for engagement with external stakeholders, and managing the Fair Wisconsin PAC endorsement and candidate support processes with the Policy and Advocacy Director. This work is all in service of advancing the organization’s advocacy efforts and maximizing the efficacy of these programs.
Responsibilities
Provides support with and coordinates the endorsement process, including disseminating and analyzing candidate questionnaires, staffing interviews, and recruiting, training and tracking of candidates in the process.
Work with candidates to promote endorsements and provide support after endorsement.
Work with stakeholders, PAC committee, and other organizations (such as America Votes, Wisconsin Progress, LPAC, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund etc.) to track candidates for endorsement.
Represent Fair Wisconsin at networking events and stakeholder meetings.
Manage voter education efforts via in person and virtual events, phone banks, canvassing, direct mail, email, and other tools.
Use Votebuilder/VAN and other outreach and recruitment tools.
Work with the Policy and Advocacy Director to develop and execute Fair Wisconsin’s grassroots electoral engagement plan.
Work with volunteers to support Fair Wisconsin’s organizing activities.
Develop organic, compelling social media content that engages our followers, including integration of video content and branded graphic design.
Desired Qualifications
1-2 cycles candidate campaign experience or related electoral experience
Strong knowledge of the political and electoral landscape in Wisconsin, including key stakeholders and institutions
Experience with Votebuilder and ActBlue
Commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and queer liberation
Willingness to learn new skills
Adaptability to ever-changing work environment
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines
Detail-oriented
Knowledge of databases and social media platforms
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working directly with candidates
Experience with NGP
Experience with Canva and/or Photoshop
