Position Overview
The Communications Assistant will support the campaign’s communications strategy across digital, press, and field channels. This is an ideal role for someone who is a strong writer, fast researcher, and passionate about storytelling and message discipline. You’ll work closely with the Campaign Manager and consultants to execute daily content, track coverage, and help shape the narrative in one of the most closely watched races in the country.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Messaging
Draft and edit copy for emails, social media, press releases, and internal materials
Support development of campaign talking points, speeches, and remarks
Help manage and maintain content calendars across platforms
Create social media graphics and basic video clips using Canva or similar tools
Press & Media Monitoring
Track press coverage and monitor media mentions
Compile daily news clips and press briefings for the candidate and team
Assist in media outreach, including drafting pitches and building media lists
Support logistics for press events and media availabilities
Digital Engagement & Research
Monitor online trends, conversation, and opponent messaging
Conduct issue research, fact-checking, and background briefings
Assist with rapid response and content development
Help maintain and update the campaign website
Ideal Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in communications, digital, journalism, or campaigns (internships count!)
Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to tone and detail
Familiarity with platforms like Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, Canva, and Google Suite
Bonus: experience with NGP VAN, ActBlue, or CMS platforms like Squarespace
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Passion for electing Democrats and defeating extremists like Lauren Boebert
