JOB DESCRIPTION

Communications Director

 

Cooke for Congress is seeking a Communications Director for the 2026 election cycle. The Communications Director will be responsible for developing and executing a clear communications and press strategy for Rebecca Cooke’s campaign for US House.

 

The position is full-time and based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Developing earned media plan/calendar and implementing campaign communications strategy

  • Responding to incoming media requests and managing proactive pitching

  • Building and maintaining relationships with reporters across Wisconsin 

  • Drafting and editing written communication materials, including social media content

  • Crafting remarks and guidance for political events

  • Providing media training and interview prep for candidate

  • Hiring and overseeing team of communications staff

  • Providing copy editing, approval and other support as needed for other campaign departments

 

Job Requirements

 

  • A track record of working directly with local and national reporters

  • On-the-record experience as a spokesperson

  • Multiple cycles of experience working in electoral politics/on campaigns

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • An ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively and get results in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork

  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.

 

Compensation

 

  • Salary range: $6,000-$8,000 per month, dependent on experience

 

 

Salary commensurate with experience, with room to grow based on performance.
