🎯 ** Role Overview**
We are seeking a ** Communications Director** to lead messaging, media, and digital strategy for a fast-growing grassroots campaign.
This role will shape the public narrative, elevate the candidate’s story, and help build a ** winning coalition across diverse Queens communities**.
Key Responsibilities
📣 ** Messaging & Strategy**
Develop and maintain the campaign’s ** core narrative, messaging, and brand voice**
Draft speeches, talking points, press releases, and op-eds
Ensure message discipline across all campaign channels
📱 ** Digital & Social Media**
Oversee content strategy for Instagram, Twitter/X, and other platforms
Lead creation of ** viral video content, reels, and graphics**
Manage posting calendar and rapid response
📰 ** Press & Media**
Build relationships with local, ethnic, and citywide media
Pitch stories and secure press coverage
Prepare candidate for interviews and media appearances
⚡ ** Rapid Response**
Monitor news cycle and respond quickly to breaking developments
Draft statements and reactive messaging as needed
🤝 ** Coordination**
Work closely with Campaign Manager, Field Director, and political team
Align communications with field organizing and endorsement strategy
🌍 ** Ideal Candidate**
Believes in ** economic justice, immigrant rights, and working-class politics**
Understands how to communicate across ** diverse, multilingual communities**
Can balance ** bold progressive messaging with broad voter appeal**
Creative, scrappy, and deeply collaborative
Preferred
Experience in Queens or NYC electoral campaigns
Familiarity with multilingual and immigrant communities
Design sensibility or experience working with Canva/Adobe
Crisis communications or rapid response experience
