The Communications Director will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that advances the campaign’s message, elevates the candidate’s voice, and operates effectively in a fast-moving political environment. This role reports directly to the Campaign Manager and works closely with the candidate, senior staff, consultants, and coalition partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the campaign’s overall communications and messaging strategy
Serve as the primary point of contact for press and media inquiries
Pitch and place earned media, including print, radio, TV, and digital outlets
Draft and edit speeches, press releases, op-eds, statements, talking points, and rapid-response materials
Oversee digital messaging coordination in partnership with digital staff and consultant
Prepare the candidate for interviews, debates, and public appearances
Track news cycles, opposition messaging, and political developments
Help shape narrative strategy across paid, earned, and owned media
