Job Description

Missourians for Constitutional Freedom is a statewide coalition of organizations and concerned citizens from across the state working to establish the right for all Missourians to make decisions about our own reproductive health care – including abortion, birth control, and miscarriage care – without interference from politicians. MCF seeks to run this campaign in a way that not only leads us to victory, but also builds long-term grassroots power and infrastructure in Missouri.
MCF has turned in double the required signatures needed to appear on the ballot in 2024 and is currently awaiting certification. The Communications Director will report to the Campaign Manager and be responsible for all aspects of the campaign’s earned media and help lead the communications strategy.

- Work with the Campaign Manager, Deputy Campaign Manager, Communications Committee, and communications consultants to direct MCF’s communications strategy.
- Lead Communications Committee weekly meetings; provide direct support to committee members.
- Produce press materials, including releases, advisories, fact sheets, and background for reporters. Organize and lead press conferences.
- Produce talking points and memos that will be used by spokespeople, surrogates, volunteers, and supporters.
- Identify and manage earned media opportunities in both Missouri and national outlets to further MCF’s goals.
- Work closely with Missouri media to guide press coverage of MCF and abortion rights in the state.
- Support and assist with other projects as needed.

- At least 3 years experience working in communications; experience cultivating and executing a press and communications strategy.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Experience speaking on the record on behalf of a candidate, committee, or other political organization.
- Understanding of how to prioritize competing responsibilities and multiple perspectives while managing rapid response moments.
- Personal passion for abortion access and reproductive justice; enthusiasm for political campaigns; and ability to execute tasks in a team dynamic.
- Missouri ties and experience with the Missouri press is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and learn quickly.
