Project Overview:
Bantam Communications is seeking an experienced consultant to develop a comprehensive Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) framework that supports the successful CBA development between clean energy developers and the project communities that host their projects. This framework will serve as a decision-tree tool to guide our clients in creating tailored CBAs for specific local communities. The goal of this project is to equip development stakeholders with the appropriate tools to facilitate bespoke, meaningful community benefits in order to support the successful deployment of renewable energy while fostering healthy host communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a robust CBA framework applicable to supporting large-scale clean energy infrastructure projects and stakeholders
Create a decision-tree tool to support clients in building CBAs for specific communities
Produce a summary detailing the approach used to develop the framework
Identify key information points needed for CBA development in various community contexts
Required Qualifications:
Extensive experience in facilitating Community Benefits Agreements between large organizations/institutions and local communities
Specific expertise in the utility-scale energy development sector, preferably with a focus on infrastructure or other comparable land-use projects
Strong understanding of community engagement processes and best practices
Proven track record in developing decision-making frameworks or tools
Excellent analytical and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in the renewable energy sector or comparable industry experience
Familiarity with regional variations in community needs and expectations
Knowledge of legal and regulatory considerations in CBA development
Knowledge of the varied stakeholder groups involved in the facilitation of a CBA
Deliverables:
A comprehensive CBA framework for large-scale clean energy projects
A decision-tree tool to guide CBA development in specific communities
A detailed summary of the framework development approach
A resource library and guidelines for identifying critical information needed for CBA creation
Timeline: 9 weeks (contract position)
