Position: Community Engagement Manager

Position Overview:
This position is a key member of the Engagement Team and will provide planning and logistical support for Freedom Forum’s current and future community engagement programs that advance the organization’s mission and vision. Through outreach and engagement, this position plays a critical role in building support to further Freedom Forum’s strategic goal of reaching all Americans and empower them to know, value and defend First Amendment freedoms for all.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Project Management and Administration
Provide research and logistical support to VP/Community Engagement and serve as a liaison with Director, Grassroots to help implement community-level grassroots strategies
Provide administrative support to VP/Engagement and Director/Grassroots for coordination and management of community engagement programs including annual high school journalism conference and college campus engagement activities
Work with staff and vendors to support the execution of grassroots and community engagement events
Coordinate and manage administrative duties for annual high school journalism conference including management of application submissions, uploading content to conference apps, and related work
Help develop content and marketing strategy in partnership with marketing team for email, digital, social, media engagement for program and conference promotion
Track, measure and provide regular reports on progress toward goals
Compile relevant data and reports on community engagement programs as needed
Manage lists, billing and invoicing
Coordinate travel logistics for select needs
Assist with preparation production schedules and staffing assignments
Compile relevant information and training for staff and volunteers for projects and events
Prioritize diversity, inclusion and non-partisanship in content and focus
Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments to successfully implement community engagement conferences and events
Outreach and Relationship Building
Research and conduct outreach to faculty, administrators, student leaders and other potential supporters to build support for and engagement in Freedom Forum’s community engagement programs for high school and college students
Cultivate strategic relationships with student organizations, campus leaders and relevant community programs
Research communications strategies to increase brand and program presence in target communities to reach key audiences
Conduct one-to-one outreach with relevant community constituents
Requirements:
At least five years of experience in project management with a focus on community engagement work such as grassroots or community outreach
Experience in managing administration for community-level events
Excellent relationship building skills and ability to engage people in the organization’s mission
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Possess a passion for Freedom Forum’s mission of fostering First Amendment freedoms for all
Ability to plan and implement short- and long-range goals strategically while managing multiple projects and deadlines and problem-solving
Strong attention to detail and execution skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively
Capacity to use independent judgment to manage and convey critical information
Flexibility and ability to work effectively independently
Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and some evening.
Location: DC-based preferred. If DC-based, up to 10% onsite. Requires up to 30% overnight travel.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $108,000 plus benefits.
