JOB DESCRIPTION

Everytown for Gun Safety is hiring for Community Organizers in Arizona, California, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. We are looking for passionate, hard-working individuals who are committed to electing Gun Sense Candidates in key battleground districts. 

We are specifically looking for organizers who live near the following areas:

  • Arizona: Maricopa County; Pima County

  • California: Irvine/Orange County

  • North Carolina: Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill); Triad area (Greensboro/Winston Salem/High Point); Mecklenburg County

  • Pennsylvania: Philadelphia; Pittsburgh

  • Michigan: East Lansing; Detroit/Wayne County; Ann Arbor

  • Minnesota: Twin Cities

  • New York: 

  • Wisconsin: Madison; Milwaukee

The position requires working in-person and travel will be required throughout a given area or District. They will report to an Organizing Manager in a given region. This is a temporary, full-time role that ends November 15.   

We will be accepting positions on a rolling basis. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and execute a direct voter contact program, including phone banking, text banking, canvassing, and community organizing to elect Gun Sense Candidates in an assigned area or state;

  • Identify, recruit, and retain volunteers in an assigned area or state based on metric-driven goals;

  • Create a positive volunteer experience that engages new people in the volunteer process, keeps people engaged throughout the cycle, and maintains strong relationships to build our movement for the long-term;

  • Organize a variety of events in person

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work independently and as a cohesive team member in a metrics-driven environment; 

  • Ability to track and report data accurately and in a timely manner;

  • Ability to develop, maintain, and implement campaign plans; 

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends;

  • Commitment to developing a positive work environment that fosters an inclusive environment open to individuals of all backgrounds;

  • Must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license to travel throughout a given area or state.

 

**Salary: **This position is for 40 hours per week. This position pays $31.25 per hour with some potential overtime hours as Election Day gets closer. We are not negotiating the salary for this role for equity purposes and to maintain internal parity with others in this position.
