JOB DESCRIPTION

North Carolina Voter Project is a non-partisan, progressive 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to changing the face of North Carolina’s electorate by registering and turning out new voters. NCVP specializes in new and innovative strategies to register and engage new voters and build lasting change. Our organization is different: we are willing to experiment to find the most productive and efficient way to expand the electorate, and we foster long-term growth that does not boom and bust with each election cycle.

Community Organizer

In 2024, we anticipate that the Community Organizer will be primarily responsible for managing or assisting in managing our call program and/or our texting program, and may come to include managing, assisting in managing or conducting face-to-face voter contact programs. This role is essential for ensuring our voter engagement efforts are effective and impactful. The Community Organizer will work closely with the field team to implement and oversee these programs, ensuring smooth operations and high levels of engagement.

2024 RESPONSIBILITIES EXPECTED TO INCLUDE:

  • Manage or assist in managing the call program, including volunteer and/or paid recruitment, training, and supervision.

  • Manage or assist in managing the texting program, ensuring timely and effective communication with voters, including volunteer and/or paid recruitment, training, and supervision.

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase voter registration and turnout.

  • Maintain accurate records of voter interactions and program outcomes.

  • Collaborate with other team members to align efforts and share best practices.

  • Provide regular reports on program metrics and outcomes.

COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to engage and motivate volunteers and community members.

  • Experience with digital communication tools and platforms.

  • Proficiency in managing and analyzing data related to voter engagement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two cycles of community organizing experience.

  • Experience with voter registration and GOTV campaigns.

  • Familiarity with digital tools for organizing (e.g., texting platforms, call software). Greater experience strongly preferred – please specify if applying.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to nonpartisan voter registration and engagement.

  • Remote based in NC preferred. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a nonprofit advocacy organization.

  • Understanding of North Carolina’s electoral landscape.

  • Spanish fluency is a plus

SALARY:

This full-time, contract position expiring December 31, 2024 (with possibility of renewal) offers a salary range of $50,000-$60,000 annually, and salary will be determined based on experience level. NCVP currently offers other benefits as well, such as 100% employer-covered health insurance and a generous PTO policy.
