JOB DESCRIPTION

What we’re looking for:

The Committee to Elect Ayanna Pressley is hiring a ** Community Organizing Director** to lead organizing efforts aimed at expanding the electorate, growing support for the campaign’s progressive theory of change, supporting diverse community-led coalitions, and re-electing Ayanna Pressley to Congress in 2024.

The Community Organizing Director will work directly with senior campaign staff, stakeholders, and our strong coalition of volunteers. They will be responsible for building upon the Committee’s grassroots organizing infrastructure and growing coalitions that outlast any single campaign or election cycle. The Organizing Director will report directly to the Campaign Manager and is a full-time cycle position, running from April 2024 - November 2024.

What we’re offering:

The monthly compensation for this role is $6,500/month. We offer coverage of medical benefits including vision/dental and PTO.

What you’re responsible for:

As the Community Organizing Director, you are responsible for creating and executing a strategic community engagement plan for the 2024 campaign cycle. ** In this job, you will:**

  • engage supporters authentically. In this day and age, there is no “digital organizing” vs “regional organizing” vs “relational organizing.” You will organize everywhere, through a combination of digital and in-person organizing tactics that meet people authentically where they are.

  • think strategically and execute effectively. Our team values local resonance over conventional campaign wisdom. You will be most effective in this job by thinking outside the box, while also clearly defining and measuring success.

  • develop and co-power supporters. There’s only one you, but there’s a network of supporters who will continue to show up for Congresswoman Pressley in meaningful ways. You will be successful in this role by developing volunteer leadership to meet campaign objectives.

  • represent the campaign thoughtfully. We aren’t building from scratch what already exists in the MA-7th. You will liaise and maintain positive relationships with existing organizations and coalitions on behalf of the campaign.

What you bring:

Our campaign prioritizes building a diverse team committed to advocating for the residents of MA-7. As a campaign practice, we do not require any pre-requisite degrees. ** To do this job well, you must: **

  • have 2+ years of experience in grassroots organizing, mobilization, or political campaigning.

  • be committed to progressive values in line with the work of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.

  • be willing to learn new campaign tools and technologies.

  • have experience problem solving creatively.

  • have access to a car and/or reliable transportation.

  • be a good & kind human.

While we’re willing to be flexible for the right candidate, ** you’ll be memorable in the application process if you:**

  • have roots in the MA-7th district.

  • have proficiency in a second language spoken in the MA-7th district.

  • can navigate social media and digital strategy.

  • have a data mindset and familiarity with data tools such as NGP VAN.

  • are a community-builder, and value the role of social connection and belonging in political movements.

  • can both zoom out to think big picture and zoom in to sweat the details.
