Position Description: ** Field Organizer**
The Eli Northrup for Assembly campaign is seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Organizer to play a pivotal role in leading our campaign team ahead of the competitive June 2024 Primary.
The Field Organizer will help execute an innovative, data-driven voter mobilization program. The Field Organizer will recruit, train, and supervise teams of volunteers and interns to win votes at the doors, over the phones, and through creative digital means. This position reports to the Field Director.
About the Campaign: Eli Northrup is a public defender and policy advocate running for Assembly in New York’s 69th Assembly District, which encompasses the Upper West Side and Morningside Heights. The campaign is a strong, well-funded, grassroots movement working to bring progressive ideals to Albany. The June 2024 primary will be an open race as the incumbent is not seeking re-election.
Location: Upper West Side and Morningside Heights, Manhattan, New York; In-person work is required.
Compensation: $4,500-$5,000 per month, commensurate with experience.
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 30, 2024
Responsibilities Include
Plan, lead and execute grassroots field activities for volunteers such as phone banks and canvass launches.
Recruit, train, manage, and support a team of volunteers and interns.
Meet or exceed metric based goals for volunteer recruitment & retention as well as mobilizing Democrats.
Implement all aspects of the voter contact program in assigned areas.
Attend local events to recruit volunteers, build new community relationships, and strengthen existing relationships.
Submit regular reports of voter contact and volunteer recruitment numbers.
Meet daily and weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.
Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Characteristics
Volunteer or internship experience in a campaign environment, or a history of issue advocacy and activism.
Strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build relationships, listen, collaborate, and lead with respect and professionalism.
Highly organized and independent work style; a strong ability to multitask and communicate.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Access to a smartphone and laptop, and comfortable learning technology including ThruTalk, P2P texting software, voter databases, and social media.
Access to public transit and ability to travel to the district
Willingness to work nontraditional hours (including nights and weekends).
