Katz Compliance is a full-service campaign finance consulting firm that provides federal, state, and municipal-level compliance services for political committees. Founded by Diane Evans as Evans & Katz in 1996 and relaunched as Katz Compliance in 2023, the company has a long history of eliminating compliance-related worries for clients through FEC reporting, state and local compliance reporting, committee start-up services, systems development, strategy and fundraising campaign support, accounting, bookkeeping, and FEC enforcement action support services. Katz’s approach combines a relentless focus on the details with a system of constantly refining and honing processes and procedures.

Position Summary

Katz Compliance is looking for critical thinking, self-motivated problem-solver with strong attention to detail to join our fast-paced and friendly team as a Compliance Manager. Preferred candidates will have FEC or state campaign finance reporting experience and/or a background in one of the following fields: accounting, campaign finance, fundraising, compliance or law for political committees. This position will report to the Director of Compliance. 

 

Compliance Managers at Katz Compliance are responsible for the daily support of a portfolio of clients. Compliance Managers will be expected to provide excellent customer service, proactive internal and external communication and demonstrate keen attention to detail in all aspects of their work. This position is responsible for the preparation and execution of the majority of the compliance and reporting needs of the clients within their portfolio. 

 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

The Essential functions of the Compliance Manager role include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

Compliance & Client Support (90%)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of assigned clients and provide strategic guidance and support to clients regarding the advisability of various political activities. These clients could include federal and nonfederal candidates, federal and nonfederal PACs, multi-entity organizations and joint fundraising committees. 

  • Ensure contributions and disbursements are acceptable under law, timely entered into compliance software and properly reported. 

  • Prepare and file timely and accurate federal and/or state campaign finance filings for assigned portfolio of clients, and provide timely assistance to other members of the team during filing periods, as needed. 

  • Provide and strictly adhere to established contribution and disbursement procedures, maintaining best practices, and compliance with Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulations as it pertains to fundraising, contributions received, disbursements, and communications, digital or printed. 

  • Prepare client financial statements and required filings in a timely manner and ensure all activity is conducted in compliance with federal and state campaign finance regulations. 

  • Complete research and procure specific state and local compliance guidance based on the needs of the department’s clients. 

  • Provide clients with regular financial reports, as dictated by the needs of each client

 

Special Projects (10%)

  • Supports the Senior Compliance Managers, Directors and President by completing other duties, as assigned.

  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Directors or President. 

  • Train junior staff, as needed.

This person can work autonomously,  prioritize tasks and meet critical, non-negotiable deadlines. This person can also hold others on the team accountable to those same deadlines. 

  • Be discreet: This person understands the confidential nature of campaign finance and compliance-related services. This person is trustworthy, has a clear-understanding of the nature of NDAs and can pass a background check. 

  • Understand the ins and outs of campaign finance: This person has NGP 8 experience and knows reporting expectations and campaign finance regulations at both the federal and state levels. This person has general knowledge of accounting principles. This person has strong Quickbooks and database skills, and is comfortable with credit card processing platforms such as ActBlue, Democracy Engine and Paypal. 

  • Have experience in the relevant field(s): This person has a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in political accounting or campaign finance or another directly related field. 

  • Be committed to the electoral success of progressive candidates and organizations: This person identifies with the ethics and philosophy of progressive and Democratic causes, and understands the important role that campaign finance excellence plays in the promotion of women’s equality, workers’ rights, social justice, freedom of expression, and support for marginalized communities.

 

This is a remote work position that will remain remote on an ongoing basis. Evans & Katz and now Katz Compliance has long been a pioneer in the remote work environment and continues to prioritize work/life balance for its employees while maintaining exceptional client services and data security. Katz compliance offers flexible work schedules for everyone, however because this is a client-facing position, there are required core work hours, Monday-Friday.

 

This is a full-time position with a salary range between $75,000 - 90,000.  Katz Compliance offers health benefits and a retirement plan, along with an unlimited paid time off policy. ** Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.**
