About the Role
Contest Every Race, a project incubated within Movement Labs, seeks a junior to mid-level organizing professional to join our team. This role focuses on organizing efforts in multiple states, working closely with county and local Democratic Parties to enhance their organizing, volunteer recruitment, communications, and voter turnout efforts. The primary objective is to engage county parties in scaling their organizing efforts to effectively shift more non-urban voters towards the Democratic Party.
Contest Every Race’s organizing work focuses on collaboration with Democratic County Parties across the country, primarily in red and underserved areas where we’re focusing on recruiting candidates and bolstering local parties.
About Contest Every Race
Did you know that in up to 75% of the U.S.’ elected offices, Republicans run without opposition? Since 2018, Contest Every Race (CER) has quietly worked with State Democratic parties and other partners to recruit over 190,000 new potential candidates - and unseat over 2,000 Republican elected officials who would have otherwise gone unchallenged. 70% of our recruited candidates are women or people of color, and 48% win their races. In 2022, we recruited over 65,000 potential candidates.
We also work in over 200 rural counties to directly invest in progressive leaders and build power locally. We’ve recruited thousands of volunteers, hosted over 350 events, and contacted millions of rural voters in just a few months. We have granted $75,000+ in 2022 to 70 rural Democratic county parties for completing direct voter contact actions, resulting in 50,000+ doors knocked, 150+ events with 4,000+ attendees, 700+ 1-1s in a month, and more.
Contest Every Race is incubated by Movement Labs, a movement incubator and the leading peer-to-peer texting political consultancy supporting progressives and grassroots activists nationwide. Our clients span both establishment and movement efforts, from senior Democratic Congressional leadership to Black Lives Matter.
