JOB DESCRIPTION

The ** Julie Morrison for State Senate Campaign** is seeking 2 qualified and motivated individuals to serve asLake and Cook County Coordinators. State Senator Julie Morrison is running for re-election to the Illinois State Senate. As Chair of the Illinois Senate Insurance Committee, she has led major reforms like expanding consumer protections for children, strengthening gun safety, and holding insurers accountable so families can get the care they need. She has also been a strong defender of reproductive rights and environmental safeguards. This is a community-centered campaign with organizing at the heart of the effort. 

 

 We are looking for applicants interested in learning how campaigns work from the ground up. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented position focused on reaching voters in the community alongside your peers. This is a part-time role, approximately 20-25 hours a week, with an opportunity for more the closer we get to the election. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • **Knock on doors to talk to voters -**approximately 10-15 hours a week 

  • Assist the Field Director in managingField Organizers, including their schedules, training, and performance metrics

  • Plan to recruit for weekly volunteer events

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for canvassing, phone banking, and text banking events

  • Track and report daily voter-contact numbers and volunteer engagement metrics in VAN.

  • Build a strong volunteer base for Get Out the Vote operations

  • Develop and maintain a strong and trusting relationship with the the candidate, volunteers, and partner organizations

  • Serve as on-site Staff with/for the Candidate at events as needed

  • Any other campaign-related tasks, as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior organizing experience preferred but not required (paid, volunteer, or internship) 

  • A background in VoteBuilder and MiniVan is preferred but not required 

  • Ability to work weekends and long hours. The position will be approximately 20-25 hours a week. 

  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team 

  • Access to a reliable vehicle. Travel is required. 

  • Positive attitude and a commitment to electing Democrats.
