JOB DESCRIPTION

Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000

Benefits: Fully paid health coverage for individual and family, paid vacation and sick days, 5% retirement match, employer-funded FSA, phone reimbursement, and union representation.

Location: Must be based in Missouri. Offices in St. Louis, St. Charles, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia.

The Creative Director owns MOJWJ's visual world, translating our messages into content that's digestible, distinctive, and built for an oversaturated political market. This role shapes our visual style and voice, finds new and creative ways to get our messaging out, and produces the graphics, video, print, and public-facing experiences that make our work unmistakable. Where the Comms Director decides what we say, and the Digital Organizer moves people to act on it, the Creative Director owns how it looks, feels, and lands.

This is a creative leadership role where you'll direct the brand while staying hands-on in production, building the templates and content systems that let a three-person team punch above its weight. You bring creativity, art, and culture into the organizing itself, from digital ads to art builds at events because our people need space for joyous rebellion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop MOJWJ's visual style and voice across all communications methods.

  • Translate our messaging into digestible, compelling visual content that makes complex issues easy to understand.

  • Manage the organizational websites, leading design, redesigns, maintenance, and updates.

  • Develop graphics, short videos, photos, and other digital assets for social media, email campaigns, websites, and online organizing.

  • Design printed literature for campaigns and events, organizational merch, and other public-facing branded printed materials.

  • Draft and edit digital content emails, social posts, action alerts, and landing pages with the Communications Director.

  • Support the Digital Organizer with engagement and mobilization.

  • Track online content trends, adapt them, and make them work in our style

  • Run digital ads with a dynamic strategy, adjusting as we see how audiences respond

  • Lead public-facing experiences, including art builds and creative activations at events

  • Participate in staff fundraising efforts including membership/donation calls, ad book contributions, and event sponsorships.

Qualifications:

  • Solid commitment to the principles of social, economic, and racial justice.

  • Commitment to dismantling white supremacy and patriarchy.

  • Proven experience utilizing digital tools for advocacy, organizing, or nonprofit campaigns.

  • Proficiency with digital tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills for email, social media, and web content.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing files, timesheets, and campaign documentation.

  • Comfortable with basic data hygiene, segmentation, and supporter onboarding strategies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, especially with organizers and communications staff.
