We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to provide insights for Devon Lawson's UWSWCD campaign. This contract role (flexible, approximately 10-20 hours/week) will involve analyzing voter data, conducting polls, and identifying key demographics to refine strategies for achieving 65% vote share and higher turnout. The ideal candidate has experience in election data analysis and is committed to using data for environmental advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze voter data from Lane County rolls and public sources to identify target demographics, such as high-propensity conservation voters or underserved groups.
Conduct simple polls or surveys (e.g., via online tools) to gauge voter sentiment on issues like water quality and soil conservation.
Map and prioritize zones with low historical turnout (e.g., rural or urban precincts) for focused outreach efforts.
Use data tools to create reports, visualizations, and recommendations that help refine campaign strategy and resource allocation.
Collaborate with the campaign manager and field team to integrate data insights into GOTV, digital ads, and overall tactics.
Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., Oregon voter data rules) and maintain accurate tracking of metrics toward goals.
Support ad-hoc analysis, such as endorsement impact or competitor benchmarking.
Requirements and Qualifications
1-2+ years of experience in data analysis for political campaigns, advocacy, or research (e.g., voter targeting, polling).
Proficiency in data tools like Excel, Google Sheets, R, Python, or voter databases (e.g., VAN, PDI).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends and provide actionable insights.
Familiarity with election data sources, demographics in Lane County, and conservation-related metrics.
Ability to work independently and communicate complex data simply.
Commitment to equity, data ethics, and progressive causes; experience in environmental or local politics is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, political science, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience accepted.
