Position Overview
On behalf of Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action, Grossman Solutions is hiring a Data and Targeting to oversee and manage a statewide data and targeting operation supporting a paid field campaign in six Congressional Districts across New York State. The program will include three distinct operations: voter registration, voter outreach, and GOTV activities.
The Data and Targeting Director will help design and oversee a team of data support staff, including roles devoted to training and support, quality control, targeting, and reporting. The Director will work closely with the Paid Field Director. This position reports to the Campaign Director.
About Battleground New York and Battleground New York Action
In 2024, New York will be a central battleground in the effort to win back the U.S. House of Representatives. Battleground New York, a new coalition of New York’s leading organizations, unions, and movements representing hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life, has come together to flip the House and take back the majority. It will be the largest field and organizing campaign in modern New York history.
Battleground New York Action is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization led by the Working Families Party, Planned Parenthood Empire States Acts, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Communications Workers of the America District 1, Indivisible, AFSCME, New York State Nurses Association, and 32BJ SEIU.
Responsibilities
Managing and maintaining the campaign's voter data, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with privacy regulations
Managing and maintaining voter contact tools, including miniVAN, peer-to-peer tools, and other tools as needed
Creating and maintaining targeted voter universes for various campaign initiatives, including canvassing, phone banking, voter registration, and digital outreach.
Collaborating with the Paid Field and Campaign Directors to provide data-driven insights for voter targeting and prioritization
Generating reports, dashboards, and visualizations to track campaign progress, performance, and key metrics for technical and non-technical audiences
Conducting data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for strategic voter engagement
Recruiting, training, and managing data staff
Training and supporting campaign staff and volunteers on data tools, systems, and best practices
Staying up to date with advancements in data management, targeting techniques, and analytics tools within the political campaign space
Collaborate with America Vote staff, external vendors, and/or consultants as needed to enhance data capabilities
Qualifications:
6+ years experience in data management, analytics, or related fields, preferably within a political campaign or advocacy organization
Proficiency in data management tools and software, such as VAN/VoteBuilder, NGP/VAN, Excel, SQL, or similar platforms
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations
Proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with others
Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting
Experience working in New York State is a plus
Location
Candidates based in New York State are strongly preferred; other candidates may be considered.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $8,500 to $10,500, to be set based on qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include a health insurance stipend.
