About Wisconsin Civic Power Table

The Wisconsin Civic Power Table (WCPT) is a 501(C)(3) fiscally-sponsored organization and the Wisconsin affiliate of the State Voices network. WCPT convenes a community of over 45 partners, providing support, accountability, and cohesive strategy to build collective and well-organized power. Specifically, WCPT provides capacity, grants, data, tools, and coordination to help its partners create a healthy and thriving democracy through a racial equity lens. WCPT and its partners promote civic engagement, access, and representation through a variety of methods, including: voter education, registration, and mobilization; issue advocacy, base building, community organizing, communications, and litigation. Position Overview

Data is one of the most important and powerful ways we support grassroots organizing and social change. The Data Associate is a key position that bridges data and tools with different grassroots groups. The person in this position will provide support to a wide range of Table partners with a range of data and tools, including VAN (Voter Activation Network). This role will support partners by providing data administration, basic training on field tools, and technical assistance in order to successfully implement their civic engagement work. This position will report to the Data Manager.

 

Principal Responsibilities for the Position:

 

Partner Support & Technical Assistance (50%)

  • Work with partners to assess and fully meet their data needs

  • Manage and respond to tickets using Freshdesk to assist partners’ civic engagement efforts

  • Set up and troubleshoot movement technology, such as Dispatch and ThruTalk

  • Provide basic training of movement tech such as VPB (Virtual Phone Bank), MiniVAN, ThruTalk, and Dispatch

Movement Tech Administration (30%)

  • Work with partner organizations to use movement technology most impactfully

  • Ensure compliance with FCC, 10DLC, and TCPA Compliance Guidelines as well as State Voices and WCPT best practices in the use of all tools and data

Coordinating with Wisconsin and National data staff (20%)

  • Assist in the analysis and presentation of data to best serve the Table and network

  • Function as part of a national data peer network, which includes regular calls and trainings with State Voices national data team to help maintain a shared data infrastructure across the states 

  • Participate in working groups to set standards and best practices at the state and national level

 

Experience & Skills: The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • At least one cycle in a political, nonprofit, labor, or community organization (volunteer or paid)

  • A willingness to recognize and dismantle white supremacy culture in the workplace

  • Demonstrated commitment to and success working with communities of color, women, low-income people, LGBTQIA individuals, and other historically marginalized communities 

  • Can make data accessible to non-technical audiences and learn new technical skills to best do so

  • Basic knowledge of how to read and understand voter, demographic, and other data sets

  • Experience with VAN (Voter Activation Network) and other civic engagement platforms

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets

 

Nice To Have:

  • Any experience with Data Visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker Studio)

  • Any experience with Data Warehouses such as SQL

  • A range of different experiences in the progressive political space

 

Compensation + Benefits: This is a full time position. The proposed salary range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000. The Wisconsin Civic Power Table provides a full benefits package that supports the employees’ well-being, financial security, and familial needs.

 

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Remote applicants will be considered within the midwest (WI, MN, IL, MI area). Preference will be given to those with familiarity with the Wisconsin political landscape.
